About the Scholarship:

The Glasgow School of Cookery and the West End School of Cookery were founded in 1875 and 1878, respectively, as the foundations of Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU). The Glasgow and West of Scotland College of Domestic Science was formed in 1908 when the two schools united. In 1975, Queen’s College, Glasgow was renamed. In 1971, Glasgow College of Technology was formed, and in 1991, Glasgow Polytechnic was established. On the 1st of April 1993, the Queen’s College and Glasgow Polytechnic united to establish Glasgow Caledonian University.

With over 20,000 students from over 100 nationalities studying on its cutting-edge campus, Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) is one of Scotland’s largest and most vibrant universities. Florence Network and Talloires Network membership is also held by it.

Situated in the Glasgow city center of Scotland, the GCU campus features world-class infrastructure and offers a wealth of attractions. Saltire Centre is a major highlight of the campus and houses the university library which gives access to more than 270,000 books, 350 open-access PCs, and a huge range of online resources including databases, ebooks, journals, and more. In the Govan Mbeki Health Building, the GCU Vision Center can be found. Also, ARC Gym and GCU Clinic are major elements of the campus. An outstanding student experience is ensured by the superb living and dining facilities. Over 600 students are housed at Caledonian Court, a well-appointed residence hall. Delicious and nutritious cuisine can be found in the Refectory and other cafes. The British School of Fashion is located on the university’s second campus in London. In addition, Glasgow Caledonian New York College is a partner college located in the SoHo neighborhood of New York City.

Nursing, midwifery, management, law, renewable energy, construction, education, social science and journalism are just a few of the many fields of study offered by GCU’s postgraduate and undergraduate programs. The institution has connections with numerous international universities in nations including China, India, North America, South America, Oman, and Bangladesh. These collaborations facilitate great student exchange and study abroad programs. Within six months of graduation, nearly all of the university’s graduates are either enrolled in more education or employed.

More than 128,000 GCU alums hail from more than 140 different nations. Some of these alumni are well-known. ‘Kevin Bridges: What’s the Story?’ is a popular television show hosted by Kevin Bridges, a popular stand-up comedian. Michael Keating is the Director of the Center for Constitutional Change, an accomplished political scientist. Scotland’s ban on smoking in public places is largely due to the efforts of Andy Kerr, who is a Scottish politician. In the Scottish Parliament, Gordon MacDonald is a member of the Scottish National Party (SNP). In the ring, Drew McIntyre is a Scotsman. Her name is Eunice Olumide, and she is a well-known actress and fashion model. The university has also produced a number of notable alumni.

On-campus housing for international students is available at Caledonian Court, which has 660 rooms arranged in six- to eight-person units. Private en-suite amenities are offered in 340 of the hotel’s rooms, the majority of which are singles; only a few are twins, making it the most affordable option in Scotland. Several coffee shops and campus stores are nearby, as are the gym and health and fitness center, as well as the city center, which can be reached on foot in only a few minutes.

Glasgow, the largest city in Scotland, is home to the country’s largest student population and, according to the Office for National Statistics, one of the UK’s top five most visited cities. As one of the liveliest cities in Europe, Glasgow offers a diverse cultural scene, a strong arts community, a variety of retail options, and a number of world-class festivals. One of Europe’s top locations and one of the UK’s top two, according to Frommer’s and Condenaste Travel Guides.
