Scholarships from the Australian Government Research Training Program (AGRTPS) (International) are available to help international students at Flinders University pursue a Master’s or Doctoral degree through research. This program includes an international education fee reduction, a living stipend, and coverage for medical care outside the United States. Please be aware that the AGRTPS is a Commonwealth Sponsored Scholarship for the purposes of obtaining a visa. The AGRTPS scholarship round is extremely tough, with only a few spots available each year. Individuals that are nominated for the AGRTPS have demonstrated a particularly high level of ability for conducting their own research. The criteria used to evaluate AGRTPS candidates include their scholastic achievements, their background in academic research, and their research indicators and results. It is possible to receive a scholarship for up to three years for a PhD and up to two years for an MS. Full-time study is necessary, as well as the beginning of a research-based degree in Australia for the first time.

About the Scholarship:

Flinders University began in 1960, when the University of Adelaide was awarded 150 hectares of property in Bedford Park with the purpose of establishing a second campus. Planning began in 1961, and construction began in 1962. After winning the State election in 1965, the Australian Labor Party (ALP) chose to establish an independent university at the Bedford Park site. On 1 July 1966, the University Act established Flinders University, which was named after Matthew Flinders, a prominent British cartographer and explorer. On 7 March 1966, classes began with only 400 pupils and 90 faculty members. Sir Mark Mitchell was appointed as the university’s first chancellor, while Peter Karmel was appointed as the university’s first vice-chancellor. Flinders University is a multi-campus university located in southern Australia. The Bedford Park campus is the university’s main campus, located 12 kilometers from the Adelaide central business district. Numerous academic facilities are available, including ample study rooms, a large library, uninterrupted Wi-Fi, and computer labs. Additionally, it features exceptional sports and fitness facilities, including weight rooms, cardio rooms, fully equipped gyms, a cricket pitch, and football, soccer, and baseball fields. Victoria Square campus, located in the heart of Adelaide’s CBD, is another fantastic space for students to learn and flourish. Tonsley is also home to a campus of Flinders University. Apart from the three main campuses, the university has a number of external teaching sites located throughout South Australia, Victoria, and the Northern Territory. Flinders University offers a diverse range of research, graduate, and postgraduate programs in a range of disciplines, including business, creative arts, education, engineering, the environment, government, health sciences, humanities, information technology, law, medicine, nursing, psychology, public health, science, social sciences, and social work. Additionally, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and China provide courses.

The institution is home to around 26,000 students and over 2,600 faculty and staff employees. The institution is a member of the International Network of Universities (INU) and the Innovative Research Universities (IRU). It collaborates with international institutions in Asia, North America, and Europe to offer a variety of study abroad and student exchange programs, including York University and Carleton University in Canada, Zhejiang University in China, the University of Brighton and the University of Keele in the United Kingdom, and Universitat Paderborn in Germany. Flinders University has produced a number of successful and illustrious alumni. Mario Andreacchio is a film producer and director who has won an Emmy Award. Alex Frayne is an accomplished filmmaker and photographer. Noni Hazlehurst is a well-known actor, writer, director, and presenter. She is a recipient of the ARIA and Australian Film Institute awards. Shine, the Oscar-winning biopic of pianist David Helfgott, was directed by Scott Hicks. Siale’ataongo Tu’ivakano formerly served as Prime Minister of Tonga. Brendon Coventry is a medical researcher, immunologist, and surgical oncologist who is credited with discovering the immunological cycle. Christopher Pearson is a journalist who previously served as editor of the literary magazine ‘The Adelaide Review’ and as a speechwriter for former Australian Prime Minister John Howard. Sudesh Mishra is a poet who has won numerous awards. Numerous more noteworthy alumni have graduated from the university.
