The University of Groningen is providing three Search Scholarships for students from developing countries who wish to pursue their own Master’s program in the Netherlands.

Eric Bleumink Fund, founded on May 23, 2000, with the main objective of providing financial aid to Master’s students from the poorest developing countries who want to pursue a Master’s.

This initiative will not only improve collaboration between the University of Groningen and universities in developing countries but may also improve the amount of educational experience in these types of nations.

Scholarship Worth

The award covers tuition costs, global travel costs, living expenses, books, and medical insurance.

Note: A substantial number of students apply for this scholarship annually, while the University can award only a small variety of scholarships.

University of Groningen Scholarships Eligibility for 2023 

Entry Requirements: Applicants interested in the University of Groningen Scholarship must:

  • Have conditional admission to this preference application (see: www.rug.nl/masters/alphabetical)
    • Have exemplary academic efficiency, rather than be supported with letters of recommendation.
  • have exemplary qualifications throughout their undergraduate/bachelor studies;
  • have an excellent command of the English language, in accordance with the entry requirements of this preference application
  • Be available for the entire duration of the program and then participate in the full program
  • Be healthy for the body, so that you can apply for Dutch health insurance.

  • They have no additional way of financing the study in question.

English Language Requirements: Candidates whose first language is not English are generally required to provide evidence of proficiency in English at the higher grade level required at the University.

How to Apply for the University of Groningen Scholarships 2023

You cannot immediately apply for an endowment grant from the Eric Bleumink Fund (EBF). Nomination is based on 1) application to at least one of the Master’s level programs and two) around the EBF’s nomination criteria.

If you are nominated for the Eric Bleumink Fund (EBF) Endowment Scholarship, you will be notified by February 1, 2023. If you are not contacted, you are unfortunately not selected. Please don’t contact us with wif software.

Therefore, only applicants who have acquired a (conditional) entry offer to pursue a Master’s program before February can be considered. As a way to allow time for the Admissions Office to process the application for a business program, the candidate must complete this type of master application before the deadline date.

It is not possible to actively apply for a scholarship from the Eric Bleumink Fund. To be considered, the student must be (conditionally) admitted to one of the Master’s programs before December 1st.
