The Travel scholarships of Schwarzkopf Foundation are created to help young people to have the opportunity to travel in European countries. The foundation aims to allow young peoples to be committed in studying a specific cultural and even political domains.

The Schwarzkopf Foundation Young Europe offers scholarship program to young people to gave the chance to get to know European countries and it norms and culture and political perspective. The applicants are intended to create a report containing the relation of European politics. That means that the impact of a country’s EU membership (or its relation to the EU, in case of non-member-states) on the topic of the report has to be described.

Deadlines for applications are March 1st or September 1st. The shortlisted applicants will notify from the selection as soon as possible for about 4 weeks from the deadline.

The German applicants freely choose the country where they wish to travel to. The non-German applicants can travel in Germany only. The trip needs to have a specifically defined research topic regarding a current cultural or political development in the context of European integration. It needs to be explained and elaborated in the application. The applicant should also state what methods are envisaged to address the topic (e.g. interviews, etc). A later substantial change of the topic would need to be approved by the Foundation.

The trip has to be planned and carried out solely by the recipient and needs to last a minimum of three and a maximum of six weeks.   Not later than three months after the journey the stipendiary is requested to submit a detailed report of at least 10 DIN A4 pages. The report needs to include an explanation of how the research topic was addressed, the concrete findings and a reflection on the experiences and impressions from the trip. The stipendiary agrees with the publication of the report by the Foundation.  Invoices providing residence in the travel country will have to be enclosed to the report.   Applications and reports must be submitted in German or English.

Germany citizens ages 18-26 are encourage to apply for a trip in an European country. Young Europeans from other ages 18-26 may apply and will grant a travel across Germany.

The successful candidates will receive a total travel grant amount of $650.
