Blavatnik School of Government is offering a scholarship to research under the supervisorship of Dr. Martin J. Williams, Dr. Clare Leaver, and/or other members of Blavatnic School Faculty, working on Performance in Government worldwide and Personnel Management.

Details on the award:

It’s no longer news that governments from various countries of the world are now failing in the discharge of their primary obligations to deliver to their people, this failure is actually not resulting from the fact that these governments lack policies, programs and reforms that are needed for better performance, but rather, owing to the fact that these governments lack the personnel that are blooded with the needed zeal, motivation, brilliance, political will, determination and entrepreneurial prowess to engineer efficiency and expected delivery of the governments of the world.

In respect to the above concerns, Blavatnik School of Government, in conjunction with Fundação BRAVA, established the People Lab with the responsibility to aid improvement in motivation, responsibleness, responsiveness, effectiveness and efficiency among the people working in these governments, through joint fact finding research, one on one interaction with the stakeholders in the public and private sector, and teaching.

The selected candidates are expected to research in line with the objective and activities of the People Lab, and fundamentally in collaboration with one, two or more government. He can choose to singlehandedly design and execute the work or in partnership with any of the People Lab’s Affiliates. He’s expected to use either of the qualitative or quantitative method, sampling any government’s reform or policies, the cause of failure of the existing and already implemented policies in regards to personnel management and performance and proffer solutions to tackle the identified problem.

The candidate is at autonomy to design and scale the questions of the work within the framework of People Lab’s, though he’s not denied the chance to be creative in his work.

Eligibility:

This scholarship is opens for all interested candidates from any Social Science field which includes but not limited to Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Economics, Public Policies Analysis, Behavioural Science, Personnel Management and other equivalent disciplines. Interested candidates must have completed their MSC in the above fields or related fields before they can be considered for the scholarship by Blavatnik School of Government.

The scholarship will fully take care of the tuition fee, allowance for the students’ accommodation, expense incurred on travelling and on the research for the candidate from any country, for a period of three years, all these are sponsored by People Lab.
