About the Scholarship:
Keele University was the first new university to be founded in the United Kingdom in the 20th century, and it was founded with the intention of fostering interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research. The Dual Honours degree, which is now pursued by over 70 percent of students, was pioneered at Keele University, which was the first institution to provide it. There is also the option to pursue a foundation year that combines many disciplines, in addition to single-honours degrees. Nearly all first-year students have the opportunity to spend a semester at one of the university’s 80 partner institutions, which currently have over 10,000 students enrolled from over 120 different countries. Keele University is consistently ranked among the top three universities in the United Kingdom in terms of the satisfaction of its student body.
The campus of Keele University is located on 600 acres of parkland, which consists of expansive woodlands, lakes, and beautiful open space. Keele Hall, which was built in the 19th century and is currently designated as a Grade II building by English Heritage, serves as the primary focal point of the estate. Keele University has a specialized International Student Support Team that is in charge of organizing the Meet and Greet service for new students at Manchester Airport and London Heathrow at the beginning of each semester. This service is provided to students arriving in the United Kingdom to begin their studies at Keele University.
Students from different countries are brought together at a variety of activities and given opportunities to learn about the cultures of other countries. There is a program called International Orientation that takes place before Welcome Week. This program is meant to aid students in transitioning to living in a new country. International students have the option of enrolling in pre-sessional English classes that can last for up to a year before the start of the academic year, as well as foundational English classes that are part of an academic year that also consists of general studies. If they make their reservations before the cut-off date, all international students will be guaranteed on-campus housing and will be able to continue living there throughout the entirety of their academic careers. There are a total of four dormitories located on the site. Horwood, Barnes, Lindsay, and Holly Cross and The Oaks are some of the people who are a part of the cast. Collectively, these residence halls are home to around 2,800 students on campus. In addition to the regular rooms and those with private bathrooms, there are also options for prepared meals. The surrounding area is well-known for the relatively priced hotel options available. The Staffordshire location of the Keele University campus is close to the city of Newcastle-under-Lyme.
It is around one and a half hours away from London, and less than an hour from both Manchester and Birmingham. The location is quite convenient. During the time period of the Industrial Revolution, a group of interconnected cities and settlements known collectively as “The Potteries” was historically renowned for the production of pottery. As a direct consequence of this, it features a significant number of traditional manufacturing centers and towns that are bordered by rural areas. On campus, in addition to classrooms, there are dormitories, a library, a students’ union, retail shops, food service establishments, and coffee shops. In addition, there is a chapel, an Islamic Center, and a quiet place that is open to individuals of all religions that may be found on the premises. The educational opportunities available to students at Keele University include those leading to the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree levels. Keele is known for its expertise in a variety of fields, including the natural sciences, humanities and social sciences, and medical and health sciences. In the past few years, over £115 million has been invested in the campus and infrastructure of the university. As part of the commemoration of Keele University’s 50th anniversary, a walk-through sculpture installation called the Forest of Light was constructed as part of a £2.7 million renovation of the Student’s Union and campus center.
In addition, the university has a development property that spans 70 acres and is dedicated to its Science and Innovation Park. This park currently hosts 40 businesses that are responsible for the employment of over 600 individuals. Keele University is proud of its reputation as one of the most environmentally conscious universities in the United Kingdom. The university places a strong emphasis on making ethical and environmentally responsible decisions on its campus initiatives. Because of the environment’s abundance in biodiversity and resources, both students and faculty are able to actively participate in the school’s efforts to promote sustainability. A program that enables students to grow their own food on campus, an allotment system that is open to the public, and an arboretum with more than 240 varieties of cherry trees that was just recently designated as a National Collection by the conservation organization Plant Heritage are some of the features that make up these facilities.
