About the University of Kansas

The Presidential Scholarship, in fact, the largest and most selective scholarship award awarded by Kansas State University, recognizes students who have been truly outstanding, both academically and student leaders, during their high school career. Two Presidential Scholarships are awarded each year.

This award seeks to attract the best students who demonstrate the potential to make exceptionally strong contributions to the K-State student body, both in the classroom and on-campus extracurricular life.

Kansas State University Presidential Scholarships Eligibility

Eligible Countries: Scholarships are available to US Citizens.

Entry requirements:

The applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • Applicants with the first degree from a recognized university and academically talented, disadvantaged according to the criteria of disability, socioeconomic status, and are not engaged in work at all or have been engaged in work but could not cover the expenses of their studies Eligible for the scholarship.
  • Having financial difficulties in financing a postgraduate college education.
  • Have an experience or potential for leadership/community feedback.

Additional requirements

  1. ACT score: 32 or higher OR SAT score: 1450 or higher and
  2. High School GPA: 3.85 or higher and
  3. Show extraordinary leadership and
  4. Be a high school student and
  5. Be admitted to K-State and
  6. Attend K-State in Fall 2021

Finalists will be selected by a committee of campus and community leaders and are required to participate in an on-campus interview. The interview and recognition event will include lunch and other special activities. Parents and family members are encouraged to attend.

Recipients have the opportunity to work with our Assistant Dean for Prestigious Scholarships to apply for the Truman Scholarship and additional prestigious scholarships.

Qualifications

Renewable

Renewable for up to three additional years (four years, eight semesters total) at $ 20,000 with a K-State GPA of 3.5 or higher.

How to apply for Kansas state university presidential scholarships

  • Submit the  K-State Admission Application  (if you haven’t already done so).
  • Complete the Presidential Scholarship Application, opening September 1, 2021. Check back for a link!
  • Applicants will be updated on the status of their application in mid-January 2022 after the initial committee review.

About IFT Seeding The Future Global Food System Challenge

The Seeding The Future Foundation has provided funding to the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) to launch and carry out the Seeding The Future Global Food System Challenge, which will award up to $ 1 million annually.

The goal of the Challenge is to inspire and support passionate, diverse, and multidisciplinary teams to create groundbreaking innovations that will help transform the food system to be more sustainable, make healthier diets more accessible, and empower consumers to make decisions that benefit so much. and planetary health.

The challenge is a great first step in the right direction. They believe that the greatest challenges facing the food system can be addressed when inspired innovators, scientists, and engineers from multiple disciplines collaborate to help transform food systems to sustainably provide access to safe, nutritious, and affordable food for all.

IFT works with the Selection Committee to finalize the winners of each level. The challenge features 3 award categories.

  • $ 25K Seed Grants:  Awarded to organizations that are planting and nurturing high-potential innovative ideas and that have developed initial prototypes and/or proofs of concept that demonstrate their innovation is feasible.
  • $ 100K Growth Grants:  Awarded to organizations that have demonstrated that their innovation is feasible at least on a small scale and have developed early projections of both economic feasibility at scale and the potential for impact to transform the food system.
  • $ 250K Seeding the Future Grand Prizes:  Awarded to organizations that have created innovations that are scalable, economically viable, reliable, and attractive to consumers, and that have demonstrated great impact potential to transform the food system.

Who is eligible to seed the future challenge of the global food system?

The following organizations are eligible to compete in the Challenge:

  • Non-profit organizations located in any country
  • Academic or research institutions located in any country.
  • US-based early-stage or start-up for-profit companies.

However, keep in mind that teams of students or researchers can participate as part of an organization’s presentation. Organizations are encouraged to form teams to compete in the Challenge. If two or more organizations form a team to compete, they must choose one of the organizations to act as the applicant.

Deadline for application
