Student Cost of Living

The most common type of apartment in Peru is one that is shared with flat mates or roommates. In doing so, students can save more by simply renting a room with other students. Which means that student can spend as low as 250 Peruvian soles per month. Or as high as 500 Peruvian soles per month. It simply depends on location and how many room mates are sharing one apartment or house.

The high end of comfortable living in Peru would be around $1,500 USD. Which would state that renting a single bedroom apartment, with all utilities, transportation, and necessities that are accounted for. Again, that is the high end of the cost spectrum, which means a student could live quite comfortably on $950 USD per month too.

Living in the capital or big cities will be quite costly because of mass markets and inflation, however, living slightly outside of the city but still within walking distance can change the cost for an apartment drastically.

It would be important that students learn the transaction difference between the Peruvian Soles and their own native currency.
