Who is this call addressed to?

Matsumae International Foundation Scholarships for Research in Japan are offered in the research fields such as natural sciences, engineering, and medicine, which are given priority. About 10 scholarships are offered annually.

SCHOLARSHIP PERIOD
Three to six months between April 2023 and March 2024.
Please indicate the length of your stay and the start and end the month on your Application Form (Form #1). (For example, six months from September 2023 to February 2024).

HOST INSTITUTION IN JAPAN
Applicants are free to choose a host institution in Japan (universities, national research institutions, or equivalent facilities in the private sector) to conduct their research.
Make sure you get a letter of acceptance from the host institution before you apply.
The Matsumae International Foundation is not in a position to give applicants advice or recommendations regarding host institutions in Japan.

NOTICES REGARDING THE CONDITIONS OF THE SCHOLARSHIP
The scholarship will be awarded only within the period specified in the award letter, which may not be extended or shortened.
Only the person specified in the grant letter is eligible for the grant. The Foundation will not be involved in any way with respect to immigration procedures, air tickets, or lodging expenses, of the family, companions, and other procedures of the selected applicant.

What benefits do the Matsumae International Foundation Scholarships offer for research in Japan?

1. Monthly Allowance A monthly
An allowance of 220,000 JPY is given to cover expenses for research activities (including materials) and living expenses in Japan.
2. Arrival Fund
120,000 JPY is provided to cover part of the initial costs of living in Japan.
3. Round Trip Air Transportation
Economy class round trip airfare is provided between the nearest international airport to the beneficiary’s residence and Tokyo, Japan.
4. Insurance
Overseas travel insurance with medical treatment and death benefits is provided.
5. Study tour
Scholars will be invited to participate in a study tour during their fellowship to deepen their understanding of Japan.

$3,400 Rotary Peace Fellowships for master’s and short programs around the world

Each year, Rotary offers its  Peace Scholarship program to finance those interested in one of the master’s degrees or short professional programs at Rotary Peace Centers around the world.

Rotary International is a global organization whose purpose is to bring together business and professional leaders to serve the community. Currently, it has more than 1.4 million members worldwide.

Rotary Peace Fellowships around the world

Since 2002, Rotary has launched its Scholarships for Peace program, awarding over 130 scholarships to leaders from around the world.

This program allows scholarship recipients to study for a master’s degree or short program at one of the Centers for Peace. Likewise, these programs offer a combination of academic and practical training in topics related to peace and conflict resolution.

Master’s programs eligible for Peace Scholarships

The master’s programs last from 18 to 22 months and are intended for recent graduates in topics related to peace and development. .

The Master’s programs eligible for the Scholarships are:

Instead, diploma programs are offered for experienced professionals. In addition, they have a duration of 12 to 24 months.

Additionally, the programs offered are:

  2. Makerere University (Kampala, Uganda)

Eligibility Criteria for Peace Scholarships

The call for Rotary scholarships is open to:

  • Citizens from anywhere in the world.
  • English proficiency level
  • Have at least an undergraduate/bachelor’s degree

Likewise, those interested must have the requested and relevant professional experience in the field of peace and development:

  • Master’s degree with a minimum of three years of experience
  • Short programs are a minimum of five years of experience

In addition, leadership skills and working with the community are highly valued in these scholarships.

Application and application process

Interested parties must select at least two programs of interest and send the application (with the required documentation) through the nearest Rotary club (you can search for it through the locator).

Later, if the applicant receives the endorsement of the Rotary club, they will go through an interview process.

Finally, the winners will be notified and will only have to complete the admission process at the destination university.

Important dates
