About Hedley Bull Masters in International Relations Scholarship

The Graduate Program in International Business offers up to four Hedley Bull Scholarships each year for full-time study in the Advanced Master’s Program in International Relations.

The Hedley Bull Scholarship Committee plans to inform applicants of the results by the first week of January of the year the award begins.

The tuition scholarship is applicable from the start date indicated in the offer of admission to the Master’s Degree in International Relations (advanced level) in the first semester. The recipient must start with a full-time position. The scholarship is not available for half-year enrollment and cannot be deferred.

This ANU Scholarship for International Relations is awarded to international Masters’s students. Whether for recognition of academic achievement or athletic performance or to support unique experiences and challenges, ANU offers scholarships. Read the details and apply.

The programs Hedley Bull Scholarship at Australian National University is open to international students studying in Australia.

Master of International Relations (full-time program).

Host nationality

The Hedley Bull Scholarship for Master of International Relations is hosted at the Australian National University, Australia.

Eligible Nationality

International students can apply for this Hedley Bull Master in International Relations at the Australian National University.

Apart from the Hedley Bull Scholarship 2023,  there are other scholarships available for international students to study abroad.

Scholarship Worth

The scholarship pays tuition for up to four semesters full-time. This equates to 72 units of the course and a thesis session of 24 units. Payments are made for the duration of the program.

It is the student’s responsibility to determine the tax implications of the award if any, that may apply to their personal situation.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship, candidates must

  • Meet the requirements for admission to the Master’s in International Relations (advanced level). (MIR Adv).
  •  To be eligible for the MIR(Adv), candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree or international equivalent with an average of 70%.
  • All applicants must meet the University’s English admission requirements.
  • Scholarships are only available to prospective new students. Current students are not eligible to apply.
  • Applicants must enroll as full-time students. Part-time students are not eligible to apply.

The decision is made by the Hedley Bull Scholarship Committee which includes:

  • President of the Board of Directors of the Graduate Program in International Affairs (President);
  • Director of Studies, GSIA;
  • Deputy Director, GSIA;
  • Two members of the GSIA faculty.

The chair of the selection committee has a casting vote if such a decision is required.

How to apply

  • Applicants for the Hedley Bull Scholarship should request a cover letter expressing their interest in being considered for the scholarship and justifying their award by applying for the Master of International Relations (Advanced).
  • The cover letter and the Master in International Relations (advanced level) (including academic records and references) will be considered the complete application for the scholarship.

The scholarship can be completed when the selected candidate:
a) Lack of enrollment for the semester in which the scholarship should begin
b) Part-time changes without the permission of the Director.
c) Withdraw from the program
d) Fail to maintain an average of 70% or higher in the program

Also note that:

Members may be invited to participate in scholarship advertising from time to time. This may include advertising in the state or territory of residence or schooling.

Most of the time, the scholar can be contacted by the university to participate in activities including, but not limited to, an interview, a photo, and an official award ceremony.
The university may also ask the researcher for written responses that may include but are not limited to, a summary of basic profile information and a description of academic experiences.

Deadline for application

The Hedley Bull Scholarship start date is July 31 while the application deadline is November 11 in any year. The Hedley Bull Scholarship Committee plans to inform applicants of the results by the first week of January of the year in which the award begins.
