The University of Toronto’s Lester B. Pearson International Scholarships offer an exceptional opportunity for outstanding international students to pursue their higher education in an undergraduate degree at one of the world’s finest universities located in a highly diverse city. The scholarships are granted annually, awarding remarkable students from various countries, including those studying at Canadian high schools. Regarded as the university’s most prestigious and fiercely competitive scholarship for international students, the Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship is a fully-funded award covering tuition fees, books, incidental fees/insurance, and complete residential support for a duration of four years. It is important to note that this scholarship is exclusively applicable to first-entry, undergraduate programs at the University of Toronto. Each year, approximately 37 students are granted the esteemed title of Lester B. Pearson Scholar.

Scholarship Eligibility

The students must meet the following before proceeding with the application.

  • International student status: Applicants must be non-Canadian students who require a study permit.
  • Academic status: Students must be in their final year of secondary school or have graduated no earlier than June 2023.
  • University enrollment: Starting studies at the University of Toronto in September 2024 is a requirement.
  • Exclusion of current post-secondary students: Individuals currently attending post-secondary studies are not eligible for consideration.
  • Exclusion of students starting studies elsewhere in January 2024: Those planning to commence studies at another post-secondary institution in January 2024 cannot be considered for the Pearson International Scholarship.

  • Nomination and Application: In order to become a Pearson Scholar, you need to be nominated by your school and apply for undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto. Seek guidance from your school’s counsellor regarding the nomination process.
  • Personalized Application Link: Once you have been nominated and have submitted your application to the University of Toronto, you will receive a personalized and secure link to access the Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship application.
  • Exceptional Academic Achievement and Creativity: Pearson Scholars are students who have displayed outstanding academic performance and demonstrated creativity in their endeavors.
  • Leadership Qualities: Scholars are recognized as leaders within their respective schools, showcasing their ability to inspire and guide others.
  • Global Community Contribution: Pearson Scholars possess the potential to make significant contributions to the global community in the future.
  • Distinction from Peers: They stand out from other high-achieving students due to their broad range of interests, intellectual enthusiasm, and impact on the school and local community.

Application Process

  • The applicants must be nominated by their secondary school and be able to apply and participate to the scholarship program.
  • The application can be accessed once receive the nomination. The candidates will be receiving the link to apply for the scholarship awards at the University of Toronto.
  • Keep in mind that it is important to check the application process thoroughly to be consider for the awards.

Scholarship Awards

Successful students will be receiving the following awards:

  • A fully funded tuition fees for the entire duration of the program.
  • Books and study materials
  • Health Insurance which will be provided for the whole duration of the scholarship program.
  • Full accommodation support will be awarded to the students for the whole duration of their program.
