Main Languages Spoken in Mauritania

Pulaar, also known as Fulani or Peul, is widely spoken in southern Mauritania and is the mother tongue of the Fulani people. Soninke, Bambara, and Hassaniya Arabic are also spoken by significant populations in the country.
