Scholarship details
The Utrecht University in Netherlands offers a number of exceedingly talented prospective students from non-EU/EVA countries the chance to pursue a degree program through the Utrecht Excellence Scholarship in a selected number of fields at the University.
The scholarship program is highly competitive. Only candidates showing outstanding achievements and potentials may receive this scholarship. Total of about 55 student grants is awarded annually for undergraduate and graduate degree studies. 20 – 25 graduate degree students are awarded the Utrecht Excellence Scholarships each year.
The Utrecht Excellence Scholarships covers full tuition. An amount worth up to €11,000 is also given to each scholar for their living allowances. However, scholars are advised to source for other means of funding; whether scholarships, bursaries, grants, fellowships or its equivalent as the Utrecht Excellence Scholarships may not be durable throughout one’s study period. This is to avoid untimely stoppage of education or situations that may result to one being a dropout.
One of the criteria for international scholars to be granted a residence permit in the Netherlands, they must prove to the IND office (Immigration and Naturalizations Office) that they have adequate financial earnings.
The duration of the Utrecht Excellence Scholarships is two years for Master’s degree program and three years for Bachelor’s degree program. The scholarship will only be renewed after the first year if the scholar is making reasonable progress in their academics.
The Utrecht Excellence Scholarships will be taken at the campus of the Utrecht University, Netherlands.
Applicants applying to study a master’s degree course must possess a relevant bachelor’s degree.
Candidates must not be a citizen of the Netherlands nor hold a secondary school certificate from a Dutch school. Likewise master’s degree applicants; they must not possess a bachelor from a Dutch institution.
Applicants can apply to study Economics and Business Economics at Master’s or Bachelor’s degree level.
Applications for the 2017/2018 session will be made available from November 2017 until April 2018.
Students who are commencing their program around February 2018 are not qualified to apply.
