Are you a high school student or about to graduate from high school? If yes, then you have a great opportunity waiting for you to study at the university which is Anne Ford Scholarship and Allegra Ford Thomas Scholarship. Officially, 2023 applications are now open for graduating high school students and we will guide you on how to apply for this scholarship.

The National Center for Learning Disabilities which is the scholarship provider for the Anne Ford and Allegra Ford Thomas Scholarships is now accepting applications.

NCLD offers annual scholarships and awards that honor the work and achievements of students and leaders who work to improve the lives of one in five in matters of learning and care.

However, the purpose of the scholarship program is to provide financial support to two graduates with proven learning disabilities and/or ADHD who are pursuing secondary education. High school graduates can apply for a scholarship.

About Scholarship Provider (NCLD)

NCLD was founded in 1977 by Carrie and Pete Rozelle as a foundation for children with learning disabilities. In 1989, the organization grew from a foundation to a nonprofit organization, expanded its mission and reach, and changed its name to the National Center for Learning Disabilities. Anne Ford took over as president of the board of directors and led the organization for 12 years.

Its mission was to provide leadership, public awareness, and grants/awards solely to support innovative research and practice in the area of ​​learning disabilities.

But now the Mission of the National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD) aims to improve the lives of every fifth adult in the country through learning and attention problems. Thus empowering parents and caregivers, and young adults by transforming schools and advocating for equal rights and opportunities.

What You Need to Know About Anne and Allegra Ford Scholarship 2023

Eligibility for the Anne Ford Scholarship and the Allegra Ford Thomas Scholarship

For the Anne Ford Scholarship

The ideal Anne Ford Scholar is a student who:

  • Express your challenges and clearly demonstrate the importance of self-advocacy.
  • He is committed to completing a four-year college degree and has begun setting realistic career goals.
  • Participate in school and community activities.
  • You have demonstrated academic results consistent with your college and career goals.
  • He plans to contribute to society in a way that increases opportunities for people with learning and attention issues.

To be eligible for the Anne Ford Scholarship, the applicant must:

  • Be a high school graduate who will be taking a four-year high school program in the fall.
  • Have a weighted grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher on a 4-point scale (or equivalent)
  • Submit current financial information
  • Please provide the most recent documentation of an identified learning disability and/or ADHD. For example, psychoeducational report, neuropsychological evaluation, IEP or 504 plan, and services, supports, and/or accommodations used.
  • Please note: LD and ADHD can coexist with other problems such as speech/language, hearing and vision, and autism spectrum disorders. To be eligible, applicants must provide documentation for a specific LD and/or ADHD.
  • Be a US citizen.

For Allegra Ford Thomas Scholarship

The ideal Allegra Ford Thomas Scholar is a student who:

  • Articulates their challenges and recognizes the need for self-advocacy,
  • is committed to academic study and career training after high school and has begun to set realistic career goals,
  • has demonstrated perseverance and is committed to achieving personal goals,
  • participate in school and community activities,
  • Demonstrates financial need.

Therefore, to be eligible for the Allegra Ford Thomas Scholarship, participants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a high school graduate who will attend a two-year community college, vocational/technical training program, or specialized program for students with LD and/or ADHD in the fall.
  • Submit current financial information
  • Please provide the most recent documentation of identified learning disabilities and/or ADHD. For example, psychoeducational report, neuropsychological evaluation, IEP or 504 plan, and services, supports, and/or accommodations used.
  • Please note: LD and ADHD can coexist with other problems such as speech/language, hearing and vision, and autism spectrum disorders. To be eligible, applicants must provide documentation for a specific LD and/or ADHD.
  • be a US citizen.

Level/field of study

Anne Ford and Allegra Ford Thomas Scholarships are awarded to a high school graduate with a documented learning disability and/or ADHD.

This is specifically for those who will be enrolling in a two-year vocational or technical training program at a community college or a specialized program for students with learning and care disabilities in the fall of 2023. It officially covers high school programs.

Anne Ford Scholarship and Allegra Ford Thomas Scholarship Worth

The Anne Ford Fellowship is a $10,000 ($2,500 per year for four years) scholarship awarded to a high school graduate with documented learning disabilities (LD) and/or ADHD who is enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program on time and complete the fall.

The Allegra Ford Thomas Scholarship is a $5,000 scholarship awarded over two years ($2,500 each year) to a high school graduate with a documented intellectual disability (LD) and/or ADHD who will enroll in a two-year community college program, professional or technical. training or a specialized program for students with LD and/or ADHD in the fall.

How to Apply for the Anne Ford Scholarship 2023

Anne Ford Scholarship Application Deadline

Students can submit applications beginning  August 9th. Submission of the Anne Ford Scholarship 2023 application form and supporting materials is due by November 13 each year.

Currently, applications for the Anne Ford Scholarship have been closed.

How can I be eligible for the Anne Ford and Allegra Ford Thomas Scholarship?

To be eligible for our scholarships, you must have documentation of a “specific learning disability” (LD) such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, and/or documentation of an ADHD diagnosis.

You may apply if you have a specific learning disability and/or ADHD in addition to other disorders that affect learning, as long as you provide current documentation of LD and/or ADHD.

What scholarships should I apply for?

Apply for the scholarship that best fits your post-high school plans. If you plan to attend a four-year university, apply for the Anne Ford Scholarship.

If you plan to attend a two-year community college, a vocational/technical training program, or a specialized program for students with LD, apply for the Allegra Ford Thomas Scholarship.

Is there an income limit for the Anne Ford and Allegra Ford Thomas Scholarship?

No, there is no set income limit. Each applicant’s financial situation is carefully reviewed, taking into account any unique circumstances, combined family income, other sources of financial aid, available assets, number of dependents, etc.
