Applications are currently continuing for the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships. The scholarship is designed for International students to stimulate international exchange and research assistance concerning Switzerland and over 180 other countries. Beneficiaries are selected by the awarding body, the Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students or FCS.
The Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships is intended at young researchers from abroad who have accomplished a master’s degree or Ph.D. and at foreign artists holding a bachelor’s degree.
Research scholarships are granted for research or study at all Swiss cantonal universities, study at any Swiss conservatory or university of the arts, universities of practical sciences and the two federal institutes of technology. Only candidates elected by an academic mentor at one of these higher education institutions will be considered. Art scholarships are assumed for study at any Swiss conservatory or university of the arts.
The scholarship covers housing allowance, and other related fees, health insurance, airfare, monthly payment fees and exemption of tuition fees.

The FCS assesses scholarship applications is agreeing to three criteria:
- Candidate profile
- Quality of the research project or artistic work
- Synergies and potential for future research cooperation
The deadline for application falls between September-December 2017.
