Scholarship details
The Skoll MBA Scholarship is awarded to incoming MBA students who are engaged in the field of social entrepreneurship. In a word, they are seeking to tackle social and environmental problems and the scholarship helps by introducing them to world-renowned entrepreneurs, thought-leaders and investors.
As its principal mission, The Skoll Centre seeks to help high-performing academic individuals and equip them with the tools, knowledge and skills necessary to effectively pursue a career which would have a positive social impact.
The Skoll MBA Scholarship shortlists and awards five candidates every year. The Scholarship is funded by the Skoll Foundation and the money is forwarded by the Skoll Centre which is based at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.
Applicants who are interested should submit all relevant documents prior to the deadlines for Stage 1 and Stage 2 admission rounds which are 29 September 2017 and 5 January 2018 respectively.
A number of eligibility criteria need also be considered, including spending up to three years doing any one of the following:
- Developing one’s own social venture
- Aiding an existing social venture or programme expand its scope
- Having worked in a field that addresses social and environmental issues
Various other prerequisites are in place. For instance, candidates will be asked to demonstrate how a business education can contribute to the betterment of their work. Also, any applicant will have to prove that the MBA scholarship is needed to advance their cause.
