Scholarship details
To recognize and reward talented individuals competing in the sport of bowling, the PBA or Professional Bowlers Association established the Billy Welu Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship was named after one of the legends of the sport, Billy Welu, who lived a life full of passions and dedication for the sport which was rewarded with numerous recognitions and titles.
The scholarship is awarded annually to any male of female bowlers currently in college and active in competing in the sport. The scholarship amounts to $1000 and eligible candidates are college bowlers who are not part of the PBA, thus are still amateurs. The student-athlete must also maintain at least a 2.5 GPA or any equivalent to it.
In order to apply for the scholarship, applicant may contact the PBA through the association’s email or website. The applicants must be able to provide proof that he/she is in college by supplying necessary transcripts and records. Aside from that, latest awards in recent bowling competitions will also be part of the criteria for the allocation of the scholarship.
