To recognize and reward talented individuals competing in the sport of bowling, the PBA or Professional Bowlers Association established the Billy Welu Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship was named after one of the legends of the sport, Billy Welu, who lived a life full of passions and dedication for the sport which was rewarded with numerous recognitions and titles.
The scholarship is awarded annually to any male of female bowlers currently in college and active in competing in the sport. The scholarship amounts to $1000 and eligible candidates are college bowlers who are not part of the PBA, thus are still amateurs.
