With the help of its partner institutions, the Gordon-Helen Smith Foundation, Opportunity International-US and local benefactors, the Alliance in Philippine Partners in Enterprise Development (APPEND) has founded a scholarship which aims to aid sterling students from financially-incapable families of micro-entrepreneurs in remote provinces in the Philippines to pursue their studies in the most prestigious universities and colleges within Metro Manila.

Besides the scholarship grant, the program includes training for the development of academic, leadership and personality skills of the scholars within the duration of their receipt of the scholarship while taking up their studies for at most five years. There is also a separate training for Social Solidarity Economy while incorporating environmental protection values to the grantees along with other life skills enhanced through this program.

To get qualified for the program, the applicant must be a child of recognized micro-finance patron of the APPEND network and has belonged to any acknowledged partner organization for not less than two (2) years. The required grade is not less than 85% while belonging to the top 5 of the commencing batch.

Once permitted to move to the next step on the application process, the applicant is then required to complete the following documents to be submitted to APPEND.
• Membership certification of parents
• Academic records or From 138
• Certificate of medical record
