The Japanese Government Scholarships are available to international students. These scholarships focus on students pursuing their undergraduate studies in Social Sciences and Humanities as well as Natural Sciences at Japanese Universities.

The intiative is backed the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. The scholarship applies for 2018 and eligibility criteria are as follows.

In order to study at a Japanese university while benefitting from the governmental scholarships, students must first choose an area of studies. The Social Sciences and Humanities offer a range of topics to pick from, including law, politics, pdagogy, sociology, literature, history, Japanese language, and others. Other subjects include economics, business administration. More specific outline of how candidates may apply for any one subject are provided on the official website.

The Japanese Scholarship grants successful candidates with a range of benefits. The monthly allowance is estimated at 117,000 yen. However, recipients of these scholarships need remember that absenteeism is inexcusable and leads to the straight out cancellation of the scholarship. The scholarship also covers tuition and other fees. There is a special travelling costs and transportation costs that may be examined at the official website.

To apply, applicants need to submit an application form, a placement preference form, an academic transcript for the past three years, recommendation from the principal or adviser of the last school attended, as well as other documents that may again be looked up at the official website.
