This Ph.D. scholarship is offering an exhilarating chance of discovering and developing natural language, machine learning, processing and text analytics methods to abstract valuable knowledge from SNOMED CT derived clinical accounts. This knowledge will allow prognosis of patients, better care, fewer medical errors, clinical and research initiative promotions, lower costs, and a better patient life.

The student who will be successful in this scholarship will have the chance of working in a very energetic academic research situation presented by the world-class UK Farr Institute of Health Informatics Research.

Students will be supervised by Professor Ronan Lyons, Dr. Shang-Ming Zhou, and Mr. Phil Davies.

These Scholarships are collaborative awards with external partnership includes SME’s and micro companies, as well as public and third sector organizations. The scholarship will be providing 3 years of funding and a 6 month period to thorough or complete the thesis. The attainment of a postgraduate assistances development award, PSDA, is essential for each KESS II scholar and will be based on a 60 credit award.

Students with a 2.1 minimum of an undergraduate degree or a master’s degree or any equivalent in Computational Linguistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Computing, Statistics, Health informatics, Epidemiology, Bioinformatics, Medical Informatics, or any other related areas.

This scholarship will be covering the full tuition fees plus stipend amounting up to 18,700$ US Dollar.
