Scholarship details
The Gay Asian Pacific Alliance (GAPA) provides a yearly scholarship that is dedicated for Asian and Pacific Islanders who are in dire need of financial assistance to fund an undergraduate, graduate, vocational or professional school.
This scholarship is only offered for college students who are currently enrolled or will be entering a college/university in the US. On the other hand, applicants outside the country are still encouraged to apply as long as they have plans or enrolled in a US college/university.
In order to qualify, the applicants must show an activism in the LGBTQ and API communities. Also, high school students who will be going to college are highly encouraged to bid for the scholarship. The following documents are also required in order to be evaluated:
- Academic transcript (latest)
- A recommendation letter (either from current school teacher, counselor, school administrator, employer, etc.)
Applicants are not required to identify themselves as an LGBT in order to qualify for the scholarship. However, those who identify themselves as either API or LGBT will receive a great consideration through the application process.
The successful recipient of the scholarship will receive an email from the scholarship provider, a few months after the evaluation date or by early September. The exact date of submissions for the year 2018 is not yet official, but the GAPA foundation noted that it typically opens up in late June.
