More than 700 student athletes have received financial aid from the International Sports Scholarship Program since its founding in 1981. Many of these student athletes have gone on to compete in major sporting events such as the Olympic Games, World Games, and Commonwealth Games. More than 120 nations are represented among the 14,000 students at the University of Stirling’s central location. The University of Stirling’s campus, which sits on the shores of a loch, was constructed in an 18th-century castle estate and first opened to the public in 1967. The University of Stirling has certain unique traits outside of its geographical location. A two-semester program with a modular degree structure allows students to begin and finish their studies at any time they choose. Students can readily change their majors because degrees are made up of credits earned through modules. Within 15 months of graduating from Stirling University, 95% of all students were either employed or engaged in post-secondary study (Graduate Outcomes Survey 2020, HESA) (International Student Barometer 2016). A conditional offer of admission to the University is guaranteed for students who attend the International Study Center. There is also an International Society that provides assistance to international students for a period of 12 weeks before and during the start of the semester at the University of Stirling. On-campus life is ranked first in Scotland and second overall in the United Kingdom by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2016. Sports facilities are ranked first in Scotland and fourth in the United Kingdom. Good extracurricular activities/societies are ranked second in Scotland and in the top 25 in the United Kingdom, Stirling University was ranked 6th in Scotland and 45th in the UK for the quality of its academic research in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework.
All research efforts were judged either world-leading or internationally outstanding in 75% of cases. All international students will be accommodated on campus, and the bulk of their rooms will have views of the loch from their windows.. Student accommodation is within a few blocks of every teaching and library facility, as well as a wide variety of shops and restaurants. Privately rented housing is an option for some students, and the Residential Services Office can help them find it. The University of Stirling’s campus is located on the shores of a lake, near to an 18th-century castle. Within walking distance from campus, there is a thriving commercial center and sports village. It is only a short drive from Stirling to the airports in Glasgow and Edinburgh, which have long been renowned as the “Gateway to the Highlands.”
One of the top sporting facilities in the country is located on campus, including the National Swimming Academy and the Gannochy National Tennis Center. The site is also home to Scotland’s three Commonwealth Games Councils and Scottish Swimming. Additionally, the International Student Barometer of 2016 recognized the university’s campus as the best in the United Kingdom. In addition to being built on the historic Airthrey Estate location, the new campus will have state-of-the-art technology. It provides students with a wide range of advantages. There is a movie theater, a bank, a drug store, a grocery store, and a library here (which contains more than 550,000 volumes and 9,000 periodicals).
On campus, there are many places to dine, including cafeterias and pubs. In addition, the college’s grounds include 2,000 rental apartments and townhouses. Students can participate in several sports at the university’s sports facility which includes a swimming pool and a sports complex with a gym, courts, tracks, and fields. More than 120 different nationalities are represented by students at the university, which has a student body of over 20,000. - In order to be eligible for a scholarship, applicants need to either already have a place on an undergraduate or postgraduate degree program at the University of Stirling or be in the process of applying for a spot on one of those programs. Students are required to also achieve the qualification standards that are unique to their sport.
