Scholarship Program Overview

Their previous work on ACCOMPANY accompanyproject.EU and the recent collaboration with North Hertfordshire Council focus on discovering people and working on environmental scenarios using the environment. The next natural progression of this project is improving the readiness of systems technology to be deployed in both supervised and unsupervised environments.

This includes work on the accuracy of recognition algorithms and user interfaces to be used on the triad of care, dependents, relatives, and service providers. The aim here is to recognize people and objects and what people do with certain objects. This then will serve as a memory for activities that are automatically recognized to support independent living. The Ph.D. includes elements of artificial intelligence and robots, enabling accurate tracking of activities in robotic interactions.

Additional inspiration and abundance on this topic come from the dual award of this Ph.D. Candidates have the opportunity to be co-supervised by Professor Gu Fang from the University of Western Sydney to improve cutting-edge aspects of monitoring activities in industrial settings. Applicants must also complete their first and third years at the University of Hertfordshire and their second year of Ph.D. Studied in Sydney, Australia.
