About the Scholarship Sponsor:

The National Institution of Singapore is a world-class educational and research institution that ranks first in Asia and among the best in the world. The university has both undergraduate and graduate degree programs in fields as diverse as science and music. NUS’s three main campuses are located in Kent Ridge, Outram, and Bukit Timah, and are home to 17 different departments and schools. NUS is known for several of its institutions, including the Yale-NUS College liberal arts institution, the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, and the Duke-NUS Medical School, which is a joint venture with Duke University in the United States.

The curriculum at NUS is extensive and rigorous, with classes spanning multiple departments and disciplines. Small-group instruction (modules) and the semester schedule are just two examples of how the school combines the best of the British and American educational systems (course credits). Its innovative curriculum provides students with the flexibility to move freely among departments and programs, take electives from across the university, study abroad, gain experience in business through internships, and even earn two degrees at once through partnerships with the world’s finest universities. However, young people today have a great deal of leeway to explore their creative, athletic, and cultural interests. The university is home to over 38,000 students hailing from over a hundred different nations.

The National University of Singapore is well-known for its groundbreaking studies in the areas of biology and medicine, technology, the humanities, and the physical and social sciences. Three of Singapore’s five Research Centres of Excellence (RCE) are located at NUS, focusing on mechanobiology, quantum technologies, cancer, and water, while NUS is a partner in a fourth RCE that studies environmental life sciences and engineering. NUS is an integral member of two international academic and research networks: the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) and the Worldwide Alliance of Research Universities (IARU) (IARU)

Research and study facilities, recreational and lifestyle facilities, housing and dining facilities, and housing and dining facilities are just some of the many amenities that NUS provides to accommodate the active and engaged lifestyles of our students and faculty. The Central Library is the hub of the NUS Library System, which includes six other libraries dispersed across the campus. Over 1.2 million books are available in the NUS Library System for use by faculty, staff, and students. NUS has a strong commitment to sports, and the SRC is where that commitment is most evident. Outdoor sports courts, swimming pools, archery ranges, and multipurpose fields, as well as indoor multipurpose sports halls and squash courts, are just a few examples of the SRC’s extensive range of facilities and options for its more than 70 competitive and recreational sports. The University Cultural Centre (UCC) and the Centre for Fine Arts (CFA) of NUS work together to bring a wide range of artistic forms to the NUS community and beyond. Depending on the student’s desired facilities, location, and involvement in the NUS community, NUS offers a number of different residential options and opportunities. Important housing options include on-campus dorms, off-campus apartments, and homestay programs. A wide variety of delicious options may be found on the NUS campus.
