One of AUAS’s key goals is to choose only the most promising and talented students from all across the world. The Amsterdam Talent Scholarship is open to students who are enrolled at institutions outside the European Economic Area (EEA) (ATS).

Academic Transfer Scholarships (ATS) are given out annually at the end of each academic year to one outstanding overseas student at Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. To qualify, the student’s country of origin must not be a member of the European Economic Area. Half of the student’s tuition and mandatory expenses will be covered by the Amsterdam Talent Scholarship.

About the Scholarship:

Amsterdam University College (AUC) was established in 2009 as a result of a collaborative effort between its two parent universities, the University of Amsterdam (1632) and the VU University Amsterdam (1880). The institution places an emphasis on the natural sciences in particular. The university has distinguished itself in a short amount of time with a robust offering in the scientific fields. With almost 900 students, half of whom come from other countries, it is currently ranked #57 in the world by the QS Global University Ranking, 2019. The American University in Cairo (AUC) considers itself to be a selective, publicly-funded liberal arts university that is modeled after an American liberal arts college. Every course is presented in the English language, and approximately 50% of the student body is majoring in some branch of the natural sciences. Because Amsterdam is only about 13 kilometers (or 9 miles) across, this European capital is simple to get to know and simple to navigate, particularly when traveling by bicycle.

The Amsterdam University College can be found in the dynamic borough of Amsterdam East, which is well-known for its diverse population as well as its range of economic levels. The campus is located within Amsterdam Science Park, which is home to some of the most prestigious research institutes in the world in addition to 150 businesses of varying sizes and types. This park is considered to be one of the largest science parks in all of Europe.

It should come as no surprise that fifty percent of the student body at Amsterdam University College is comprised of students from outside the Netherlands. At this relatively small university, all of the students live on campus, which helps to foster a sense of community there. Before the start of the new academic year, all first-year students are required to participate in AUC Introduction Week, during which they get to know both their fellow students and the University. The Amsterdam University College Student Association is in charge of planning and coordinating all student events and activities that take place during the school year (AUCSA). The events range from sporting competitions to parties, as well as academic conferences such as TEDxAUCollege and Voices of AUC, as well as other student-run organizations.
