This fellowship programme is meant to invite outstanding scholars from any field of study to spend a short length of time (up to twelve days) conducting research at the University of Bonn. Scholars from universities that are key partners and universities located in countries that are priorities for international engagement will be given preference.

The goal is to integrate the fellows as deeply as possible into the academic life of Bonn and to bring them to the attention of the general public (or at the very least, the scholarly public). In addition to that, the recipients and candidates of these fellowships are meant to be given new opportunities to work together on joint projects in the future.

About the Scholarship Provider:

The Institution of Bonn is a public research university located in Bonn, which is located in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. This university, which was established in 1818, has a stellar reputation not just as one of the most prestigious educational establishments in Germany but also as one of the most prestigious research-based universities in the entire globe. This university promptly reopened its doors after World War II, and it has never wavered in its dedication to the achievement of its long-term objective, which is to earn a good reputation on a widespread scale. As a consequence of the establishment of brand-new facilities on its main campus and the expansion of its range of specialised subject matter, this educational establishment evolved to adopt a more global perspective. At the University of Bonn, students can choose to study in one of seven different faculties: Law and Economics, Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Arts, Medicine, or Agriculture.

The institution has a total faculty of around 6,400 people, with 540 people holding the position of professor. The teachers at this university are all extremely accomplished in their respective professions, and they were all recruited utilising a tried-and-true method of personnel selection. Notable researchers affiliated with this university have been awarded a combined total of over 154 million euros in third-party funding in addition to a pair of Nobel prizes, many Leibniz prizes, and other academic honours. This university offers more than 200 degree programmes across a wide range of disciplines. This university gives students the opportunity to major in a wide variety of subjects, including but not limited to the following: mathematics, physics, law, economics, neurology, medical genetics, chemical biology, agriculture, Asian and Oriental studies, and Philosophy and Ethics. The students at this university have access to a wide variety of learning and professional development possibilities, as well as a calm and comfortable living environment. The university now has an enrollment total of approximately 38,043 students.

There are 5,000 students from other nations, with 989 of them being PhD students, attending this university. These students come from 141 different countries. The University of Bonn is situated on a compact campus that is home to 349 individual structures. The city is home to 58 libraries that house a combined collection of around 5 million books and volumes. In addition, there is a university hospital located on the premises, which works in close conjunction with the institution’s college of medicine. There are a number of museums located on the campus of this university.

Some of these museums include the Academic Museum of Antiquities, the Egyptian Museum, the Arithmeum, the Teaching Collection of Archaeology and Anthropology, the Botanical Garden, the Mineralogical Museum, the Goldfuss Museum of Palaeontology, the Horst Stoeckel-Museum of the History of Anesthesiology, and the Museum Koenig. There are six primary research focuses at the University of Bonn, all of which have the same overarching objective: to make considerable headway towards overcoming the most pressing scientific, technological, and societal challenges of the present day. All of these topics, such as mathematics, modelling and simulation of complex systems, building blocks of matter and fundamental interactions, life and health, individuals, institutions, and societies, pre-modern orders and their configurations in transcultural comparison, continuities and dynamics, and innovation and technology for sustainable futures, are included in these themes.
