The goal is to provide support for PhD candidates from countries in the Global South in order to enhance scientific contact with partners, especially in areas where scientific activity has been relatively suppressed. The University of Bonn is specifically inviting PhD candidates from Africa, South America, and Asia to join in order to promote international cooperation in the priority regions identified in the partnership strategy. The funding will be available for a minimum of three months and a maximum of twelve months.

This financing line aims to strengthen cooperation between Bonn scientists and their partners in the aforementioned locations, as well as to expand such collaborations in terms of early-career researcher promotion. A formal or informal collaboration agreement between the doctorate candidate’s home institute and the host institute in Bonn should already exist when the application is submitted. The Bonn researchers who are hosting the event serve as applicants.
