Scholarship details
The Donald A. Wehrung International Student Award was created as a way of recognizing outstanding international undergraduate students from war-torn or impoverished areas who have differed the odds to achieve academic excellence, and who would be unable to attend university without financial assistance.

Eligibility:
To be considered for this grant for school;
– Candidates must be an international student who will be studying in Canada on a Canadian study permit
– Candidates must have graduated or in the process of graduating from a reputable senior secondary school
– Candidates must be applying for their first undergraduate degree
– Candidates must meet the admission requirements of UBC, this includes general and degree-specific requirements and the English Language Admission Standard.
– Candidates must be from a politically unstable, war-torn, or economically disadvantaged country
– Candidates must have achieved academic excellence regardless of difficult situations and may not have financial means from family or other sources to further their post-secondary education in their country.

Value of award:
The value of the scholarship is the candidate’s demonstrated financial need and will be sufficient to cover for living expense and tuition cost for the degree of study
Duration of program:
The scholarship is renewable for up to three additional years of undergraduate study or until degree completion. This is on the condition that the candidate achieves satisfactory academic standing in their faculty, continues to have financial need, and must maintain their Canadian study permit.
How to apply:
To apply, candidates will be required to submit their award application and complete their online application for admission into UBC. Although candidates are allowed to indicate two-degree choices in their application, only their first choice will be considered for the purpose of the award
