The Community Foundation of Northern Illinois proudly opens the Deborah Jean Rydberg Memorial Scholarship in honor of the long-time softball and basketball coach Deborah Jean Rydberg. The scholarship pays tribute to her endless passion for her teams and the unwavering drive to pursue her education every time.
The scholarship is open to graduating female High School students at Guilford High School. The applicant must have played in an athletic team during her stay in the school while maintaining a minimum of 2.3/4.0 GPA. The applicant must also be planning to attend a college.
In order to apply for the scholarship, the applicant must create an essay discussing why she deserves to receive the scholarship. The applicant must also discuss some personal struggles, achievements, and other things that may be used to convince the panel. Although not required, a recommendation from a Guilford coach is highly recommended.
