Scholarship details
Founded by C. Christopher Bremer, the Bremer German Scholarship is built to provide financial assistance for incoming college students who demonstrated a flair and exceptional ability in learning the German language. This scholarship awards $5,000 USD to a student every four years.
Even though the scholarship requires its students to show strong interest in learning German, the applicant is not required to have a major in German. However, the applicant must maintain the required grade in the school that he/she is enrolled. Also, the applicant is required to finish at least one course yearly in the German Department. During the senior and junior years of the applicant, courses that are offered through a 400-level seminar or the Berlin program must be included.
To be considered for this scholarship, the applicant must submit an application at Davidson College first. After that, the applicant is required to submit the following documents:
- A letter of interest (include why the applicant should be granted this award and other experiences that is relevant to German study)
- A recommendation letter (must be from the applicant’s German instructor of the highest level)

This scholarship is renewable for the remaining three years of the applicant.
