Learn all about the 2023 Bruce Fishkin Scholarship to not only become one of the finalists to progress in an interview with the scholarship committee but to become a scholarship recipient.

The Bruce Fishkin Scholarship is a prestigious scholarship that helps us high school students pay for college. What makes it even more respected is that the Bruce Fishkin Scholarship Fund awards scholarships to students based on their ability, individuality, and potential. The scholarship is more of a meritorious scholarship than a financial need scholarship.

So if you feel like you have what it takes for Bruce Fishkin to invest his time and money in you, start thinking about applying. Of course, each individual is unique and has something worth investing in. Still, the Bruce Fishin Scholarship is not for all high school students in the United States.

So, in this post, we will let you know what you need to qualify for the Bruce Fishkin Scholarship 2023. We will also guide you on how to apply and get a chance to become a Bruce Fishkin Scholarship recipient. About the Bruce Fishkin Scholarship

The Bruce Fishkin Scholarship Fund became operational in 2010 and has been awarded scholarships annually ever since. This prestigious scholarship is interested in young students who are passionate about achieving greatness. Therefore, the scholarship fund seeks high school seniors who will challenge themselves and attempt what others think is impossible.

Since its inception, the Bruce Fishkin Scholarship Board has awarded six scholarships (6) to these high-achieving high school seniors. Meanwhile, the board restricts the scholarship to students residing in or attending high school in any of the following areas:

  • Fairfield
  • Green farm
  • Redding and Westport
  • Connecticut,
  • and the surrounding cities and suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, and Las Vegas, Nevada.

Although the scholarship is quite restrictive, the good thing about it is that it gives successful applicants an award that covers the full cost of their college education.

However, since the Bruce Fishkin Scholarship is not a financial necessity, it is highly competitive. Applicants will go through a rigorous selection process that involves writing an essay and personal interviews.

To be more specific about this scholarship, here’s what Kivrea, a 2015 Bruce Fishkin Scholarship finalist, had to say about writing the scholarship essay.

Hello everyone, I advanced as a finalist. I have a 4.6 GPA, but not the best SAT scores. They actually emailed me before deciding who to pick because I told them I do independent astrophysics research and have derived multiple theories, but my math score was low, so I had to explain that. I proved to them that I knew my stuff and told them that my math SAT 1 subject test scored a 710, so that was enough to pass me.

My essay was about my passion for quantum theory, mathematics, and physics in general; difficulties during my academic career (moving around a lot and trying to pay for extra textbooks to learn new things); and my decision to transfer to a dual enrollment school in hopes of obtaining a better education than was available to me.

I also mentioned his mission statement, early academic achievements, and that curiosity and fire are more important than a transcript. I hope that helps!

P.S. Just as a guide, tell your kids never to stretch the truth to appear more impressive. A friend who applied to college said that he had his own business when in fact he only sold two tie-dyed T-shirts to his friends. That’s a drastic situation, but it’s important to keep it in mind.

In the meantime, don’t downplay the academic grade. Sandeep Bharadwaj, a 2013 finalist for the Bruce Fishkin Scholarship proceeded to win the National Merit Scholarship in the same year. He got a near-perfect 790 on his Chemistry SAT.

How does the Bruce Fishkin Scholarship work?

When you go from a finalist to a recipient, the Bruce Fishkin Scholarship Fund hopes that:

  • Be willing to act as a mentor to future Bruce Fishkin Scholarship recipients and be an active member of the Bruce Fishkin Scholarship community.
  • Please continue to seek additional financial assistance, including federal or state financial aid, scholarships, or other private scholarships.
