About the Scholarship Provider:

The University of Sussex is a public research university that was founded in the 1960s and can be found in the south of England, near to the city of Brighton. It is an outstanding higher education institution that places a strong emphasis on study and investigation. It was the first of the new wave of institutions in the United Kingdom to acquire its Royal Charter in the year 1961, and it is widely regarded as having one of the most aesthetically pleasing campuses in all of England. In addition, it was the first of the new wave of institutions in the United States to acquire its Royal Charter in the year 1961.

One of the most beautiful areas of the United Kingdom is home to the campus of the University of Sussex, which can be found in this area. The campus is set on the outskirts of Brighton in rolling parkland, and it offers both award-winning architecture as well as magnificent open areas. The school is also placed in close proximity to the city center. In 1993, the structures that are considered to be the most important parts of the campus each received the status as listed buildings. These buildings were designed by Sir Basil Spence, who was also the architect. In addition to this, Falmer House is one of only two educational buildings in the entire United Kingdom to have been given the highest possible Grade I listing. This listing is presented in recognition of the building’s exceptional significance and is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon a structure.

The university provides financial assistance to a combined total of twelve academic schools and research organizations. The university provides more than 500 distinct programs for students at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate levels. The University of Sussex has approximately 16,820 students enrolled in its various programs, with approximately one quarter of these students being postgraduates. Students hailing from the nation of residence account for around 76 percent of the entire student body, while students hailing from other nations account for approximately 24 percent of the total student population. More than 300 research staff members are coupled with the approximately 1,803 teaching staff members to make up the total of more than 2,200 employees on the teaching staff. At this particular university, both the teaching staff and the student body come from more than one hundred different nations. About a third of the teaching staff and administrative staff at the university are not originally from the nation in which they currently reside. The extensive fame that is associated with the educational institution may be traced, in large part, to the social science and humanities departments of the university. It keeps both a local and a worldwide viewpoint, and it provides constant involvement in the activities and services of the community. Additionally, it preserves a local as well as a global perspective.

The educational establishment has a global outlook, and it is extremely proud of its former students who have achieved a high level of accomplishment in virtually all fields of endeavor, both within and beyond the borders of the United States. In addition to this, some of the accomplished alumni include ambassadors, chiefs of state, famous scientists, legislators, and activists. In addition to this, its teaching staff includes a few people who have been honored with the prestigious Nobel Prize, as well as members of the British Academy and a laureate of the Crafoord Prize. In addition to this, the institution possesses a number of departments that are ranked among the top one hundred in the entire world. These academic disciplines include of business and economics, social sciences, psychological research, and legal studies.

In the meantime, 93 percent of students polled at both the University of Sussex and the University of Brighton characterized themselves as being “extremely happy” with both their education and city life. These responses came from students attending both universities. According to a survey, students in England rated Brighton as the most pleasant city in which to live. The primary campus of the university has recently emerged from a substantial refurbishment that included additional facilities to meet the growing number of students. The project had a total cost of one hundred million pounds and cost a total of one hundred million pounds to complete. Recent investments, such as the building of institutes for the study of consciousness science, corruption, and Middle East studies, have had a substantial impact on the research profile of the University of Sussex, which has been significantly boosted as a result.
