The Playford Trust and WSP are pleased to award a scholarship in the amount of $7,000 to a student who is currently enrolled in their fourth year or higher of studying civil, structural, mechanical, or electrical engineering. The engineering disciplines of mechanical, electrical, civil, and structural engineering, in addition to project management, sustainability, and earth sciences, are included in the extensive range of specializations that WSP offers in each of these market segments as part of the services that it provides. The work experience will last for a flexible duration of up to six weeks, and it comes with the chance for a potential ongoing paid internship as well as prospective future employment. - Applicants are need to be:
- you are prepared to begin your Honours year or fourth year of study in civil, structural, mechanical, or electrical engineering at one of South Australia’s three public universities.
- a permanent resident of South Australia who is either a citizen of Australia or the holder of a permanent resident visa.
- who are either planning to spend a substantial portion of their professional life in South Australia or who are likely to be of use to the state
- a high achiever who has a stellar record of academic success during their undergraduate studies
- has great moral standing. Students that are able to demonstrate potential for leadership will be given preference.
- within six months of earning the scholarship, you must be available to complete the work placement that lasts for six weeks.
- Students who are self-assured, have previous experience with both human and digital communication, and have a strong focus on developing skills in technical engineering and consulting will also be given preference. This preference will be given to students who have a keen focus on developing skills in technical engineering and consulting.
- t is absolutely necessary for the applicant’s supervisor or an academic referee (such as the dean of the school or faculty, or a lecturer) to submit a supporting comment on the student’s accomplishments, character, and potential for leadership.
- The Playford Trust will take into consideration nominations made by students currently enrolled at one of the three public institutions in South Australia. However, the Playford Trust maintains the authority to accept or reject any or all of the nominations.
- The final selection will be made by WSP and the Playford Trust in collaboration, and the applicants who have been shortlisted will go through an interview procedure.
The B.S. Chimni Scholarship for the Master of Science in Refugee Protection and Forced Migration Studies at the University of London is available for the 2022–2023 school year. The course will be made available to exceptional international or refugee students through distance learning.
