The Graduate School at Miami University is a community of scholars that lies at the heart of the Miami Experience, where students are immersed in the process of research and scholarly inquiry. With 68 master’s, 13 doctoral, 1 specialist, and 20 certificate programs spanning a wide range of disciplines, these programs serve as a platform for discovery, creativity, innovation, and collaboration. The Graduate School is committed to advocating and supporting graduate programs dedicated to the pursuit of new knowledge and best teaching practices that promote diverse, globally aware graduate students and faculty.

There are multiple graduate scholarships available, the nominees must be sure that they have nominated the right student to receive the right one.

The Graduate School Scholar Assistantship (GSSA) is a recruiting assistantship intended to be used to attract and matriculate the best and brightest prospective graduate students. The GSSA provides two semesters for a doctoral degree and one semester for a thesis-based master’s degree on a Graduate School funded research assistantship dedicated to full-time research related to the student’s dissertation or thesis.

Did you know that this graduate school has a success rate of 60% when it comes to eligible degree-seeking graduate students receive funding in the form of a graduate assistantship and/or tuition waiver.

Eligibility & Requirements

  • Applicants must have applied for full-time study to a doctoral degree or thesis-based master’s degree and be in the top 10% of the applicant pool for that degree program.
  • The nominating department must offer a full graduate award.
  • Students completing non-thesis options are not eligible.
  • If a recipient of the GSSA changes from a thesis to a non-thesis option during the course of his or her studies, the student will forfeit the award.

How to Apply

To nominate an applicant for the GSSA, the Department Chair or Graduate Director will submit application materials using the following Qualtrics Graduate School form. Nominations must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, February 15, 2021.

Reward

Provides two years of tuition if the right applicant is right for the scholarship assistance.
