These fellowships were established in the year 2000 thanks to a very significant gift from Dr. Richard H. Tomlinson, and they are presented annually by Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (GPS) in an effort to entice exceptional candidates to enroll in programs leading to the Doctorate degree. These are the most prestigious prize given out internally by GPS. Those who are selected as Tomlinson Scholars typically go on to be recognized with additional renowned honors, such as the Vanier or CGSD.

About the Scholarship Provider:

Montréal, the capital of Quebec, is home to McGill University, which was established in 1821. Today, McGill University has the finest quality Doctorate medical program in the entirety of Canada. It has a long tradition of being regarded as one of the most prestigious educational institutions in the whole wide world. It is one of the institutions with the most students coming from a variety of countries and cultures because there are more than 150 different nations represented among its student population. International students come from a wide variety of countries and make up approximately 31% of the total student body.

As compared to other research universities in Canada, the percentage of students enrolled in PhD programs at this public university is significantly higher than at other research universities. In addition to this, the university provides its international students with access to the institution’s very own international student association. The university is extremely happy with its network of fifty research centers and institutions, which collectively provide more than four hundred different academic programs for students to choose from. The primary campus of the school may be found in the downtown area of Montreal, which is often regarded as being among the cities in the world that are among the most accommodating to the population of international students.

Since the year 1926, when the Association of American Universities (AAU) was first established, McGill University has been a member of the AAU. This group is comprised of some of the most prestigious schools of higher education in the United States and Canada. In addition, McGill University is a founding member of Universitas 21, which is a worldwide network of outstanding educational institutions that place a premium on research and collaborate with one another to broaden their international reach and cultivate global views.

At the university, students have the option of pursuing either an undergraduate or graduate level of education. This university offers students the opportunity to major in a wide variety of disciplines, including biomedical engineering, business analytics, chemistry, chemical engineering, architecture, and anthropology, to name just a few. It is important to note that students at the university have the opportunity to obtain the skills and information necessary to be successful in the industries in which they choose to work. In addition, the institution takes the necessary efforts to ensure that all of its instructors are knowledgeable in the subject areas in which they teach. Internships within the discipline are also available to students, allowing them to get both a theoretical and practical foundation in the field studied at the institution.

Montreal, Quebec, Canada is home to its main Downtown Campus, which comprises both a lower and an upper part. There are approximately 3,000 first-year students attending nearby colleges that call the downtown area home. The residence halls are of high quality construction and come equipped with every imaginable amenity. In addition, for the convenience of the students, there are a number of restaurants, cafes, grocery stores, and specialty shops located within a short walking distance of the school. In addition, there are numerous options for public transportation, so getting to and from school is not a difficult endeavor at all. MacDonald Campus is the name of one of the individual campuses that together make up the larger university. The Institute of Parasitology, the School of Nutrition, and the Faculty of Agriculture and Environment are all located in the same building at this particular educational institution. In addition, the vast majority of research activities are conducted at this location.

The university’s researchers have also contributed to the advancement of atomic theory, the invention of modern sports such as football, hockey, and basketball, as well as the discovery of genetic codes and DNA. These kinds of contributions to the common good are unparalleled in comparison to anything else that has ever been done. Authors John Ralston and William Shatner, actors Mark J. Poznansky and Julie Payette, and scientists Mark J. Poznansky and Julie Payette, to name just a few notable alumni, are all products of this university (Current Governor General of Canada). In addition to his role as Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau is a well-known alumnus of McGill University. He received his undergraduate degree there.
