Research into high-risk drinking among males, potential intervention times, and health promotion measures to prevent or alter risky drinking behaviours are the focus of a PhD Enterprise Scholarship offered by Flinders University and the Alcohol and Drug Foundation. The National Centre for Education and Training on Addiction (NCETA) at Flinders University will serve as the home for the PhD candidate. NCETA’s mission is to serve as an agent of change in the realm of alcohol and other drugs (AOD). Due to their expertise in the sector, the ADF is contributing to the PhD scholarship by deciding on the research issue to be explored.

When it comes to reducing the negative effects of alcohol and drugs, no other organization in Australia works harder or more effectively than ADF. Flinders University’s Director of the National Centre for Education and Training on Addiction, Professor Jacqueline Bowden, and Curtin University’s Associate Professor Michael Livingston will serve as the PhD Enterprise Scholarship’s academic advisors. Both of them are at the forefront of the field of alcohol policy analysis. Dr. Skye McPhie, Manager, Research & Evaluation from the ADF, will help with possibilities to integrate studies into practice, and your supervisor will be Prof. James Smith, a leading expert in men’s health and health promotion research at Flinders University.

This exciting endeavor entails:

In order to better understand the demographic and situational risk variables that contribute to behaviors that enhance the risk of alcohol-related damage in men, the current literature was reviewed.

  • Analyzing national data sets for trends and risk variables in male heavy drinking.
  • Interviews or surveys to learn when in a person’s life an intervention to reduce risky drinking habits would be most effective.
  • In addition to funding for your education, the PhD Enterprise Scholarship requires that you complete a 60-day internship at the Adelaide office of ADF before you finish your PhD. This internship must be agreed to in writing within the first 18 months of your candidacy and must be worked on full-time.

Our degrees are well regarded in the academic community, and our grads have access to a wide range of resources for furthering their careers, such as internships, practicums, and mentorships. Flinders University has been ranked 271 overall and 43 in Asia/Pacific by Times Higher Education (THE World University Rankings 2020). We intend to increase our positive influence by strengthening our relationships to the local community and promoting international cooperation in areas such as science and education as we expand.

The degrees granted by Flinders University are often ranked among the best in the world. These graduates appear to have promising prospects. CISCO and BAE Systems are only two of the prominent companies that have had and still have strong affiliations to Flinders University. An internship with one of these companies is a fantastic way to gain valuable work experience and exposure to cutting-edge business trends. Flinders University’s main campus may be found in the heart of Adelaide. It’s in the broader Bedford Park area. Its cutting-edge architecture and central location make it simple to reach the city’s business centre, major shopping areas, and scenic coastline. The full cost of the Student Hub and Plaza has been accounted for in this estimate. Class rooms, shops, cafes, and even a bar are all on the schedule for this mixed-use development. Thanks in large part to its cutting-edge research facilities, exciting cultural events, and one-of-a-kind retail stores, Flinders Village is poised to become a dynamic urban hub. Given the strong correlation between resource availability and student results, Flinders University makes considerable efforts to provide its students with all the resources they may possibly need to achieve.

If you’re having trouble adjusting to life in Australia, check out some of the events and services geared toward international students that Flinders University and the city of Adelaide offer. In order to ensure the academic and personal success of our international students, we provide a comprehensive range of services beginning with their arrival and ending with their graduation. About ninety percent of our international students have expressed satisfaction with our offerings. Our academic medical center, Flinders Medical Centre, will benefit from the new train line and station that will be built as part of the Flinders Village project in 2020. Locals, students, and workers will save an average of 22 minutes per day on their commutes into the city center. In the long run, this will save you a ton of time and money. Around 12 kilometers south of Adelaide’s downtown is Bedford Park, where Flinders University’s main campus can be found. The beauty of the harbor and city is revealed from this vantage point.

Not only does the location boast cutting-edge architecture, but it also has a stunning setting complete with a lake and indigenous Australian flora. Flinders University is located in the lovely and functional Bedford Park. Adelaide is widely regarded as a world-class metropolis that won’t break the bank. This is due in large part to the city’s proximity to renowned wine-producing regions, its abundance of green space, its variety of excellent dining options, and its distinctive metropolitan culture (Global Liveability Study 2016). Flinders University is dedicated to providing its students with a stimulating and encouraging learning environment in which they can blossom into their full academic and personal potential.

Our group is dedicated to enhancing various facets of the Flinders University experience for our student body. Financial aid, counseling for major selection and financial planning, and a plethora of extracurricular activities are just some of the many student support services offered by Flinders University. Connecting the main campus with the Tonsley innovation zone and the heart of Adelaide, the New Flinders Rail Station is scheduled to open in 2020. Since last year, when work began on Flinders Village, numerous new businesses have set up shop in the bustling downtown area.
