Applications are currently being accepted for the Wells Mountain Education Undergraduate Scholarship Program for Developing Countries 2023. Eligible persons are invited to apply by this notice.

The Wells Mountain Foundation offers undergraduate scholarships to students from developing countries to study in their home country or any other developing country.

The hope of the foundation is that by providing the opportunity to improve education, scholarship participants will not only be able to improve their own future, but also that of their own communities.

The foundation believes in the power and importance of community service, and as a result, all scholarship participants are required to volunteer for a minimum of one month per year.

Scholarship type

The scholarship is for candidates who are interested in pursuing a course in the undergraduate program. 

Field of study

All fields are eligible, although WMF intends to favor helping professions such as health care, social work, education, and social justice. As well as professions that help the economy and the progress of the country such as computers, engineering, agriculture, and business.

Eligible Countries:

Candidates from all developing countries are eligible to apply for the Wells Mountain Education Undergraduate Scholarship Program.

Who is qualified to apply in 2023? 

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, the applicant must be a student, male or female, from a country in the developing world, who:

  •  Successfully completed secondary education, with good and excellent grades.
  • You are 35 or younger on March 1, 2023
  • You will study in your country or in another country in the developing world *
  • You are studying for your first baccalaureate or diploma
  • You will be enrolled in a program of study that will benefit the community and/or contributes to the continued growth and advancement of your home country. 
  • Plan to live and work in your own country after graduation
  • You have demonstrated your commitment to giving back and have volunteered before applying.
  • You may have some other funds available for your education, but you won’t be able to go on to get your college degree without financial assistance.

The number of prizes

The number of awards given by the Wells Mountain Education Undergraduate Scholarship program is between 10 and 30 per year.

The maximum scholarship is $3,000 USD.

Wells Mountain Scholarships range from $300 USD to $3,000 USD annually and are provided throughout the recipient’s undergraduate education. The average scholarship amount is $1500.

How to apply: 

To apply for the WMI Scholars Program, you must submit a completed application through the online scholarship application process via the website (preferred method) or by mail to arrive at their office by 11:59 p.m. EST on 1 March 2023.

Before applying, we strongly recommend that you read the WMI Academic Program Information Sheet and also the Frequently Asked Questions for Prospective Scholars (check below) document. These two documents will help you determine your eligibility and guide you through the application process. 

Applicants must submit two letters of recommendation written by someone who knows them but is not a family member, who can tell them why they deserve to receive a WMF scholarship.

What qualities do you possess that will make you an excellent student, a successful graduate, and a responsible citizen who will give back to your country?

These letters of recommendation can come from a teacher, a religious leader, a volunteer supervisor, or an employer.
