Alexander Rutherford had the distinction of serving as both the first Premier of Alberta and the Minister of Education in that province. In his respect, this award bears his name. He was well-known for his passionate advocacy of public education, notably the University of Alberta, as well as his active participation in the affairs of the local community.

The North Campus of the University of Saskatchewan encompasses 200 acres and is located on the banks of the North Saskatchewan River. There are almost 150 structures here. The University’s Department of Athletics is managed by the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation, which also oversees a number of intramural and club sports and group fitness initiatives. The school offers a wide variety of varsity sports to its students, such as baseball, basketball, cricket, cross country, curling, dodgeball, football, golf, hockey, inner tube water polo, rugby, soccer, swimming, track and field, tennis, volleyball, wallyball, wrestling, and more. Former Canadian Prime Minister Joe Clark, Canadian jurist Beverley McLachlin, Canadian historian George Stanley, Canadian businessman Daryl Katz, former Canadian MP Rona Ambrose, immunologist John Bell, Canadian entrepreneur and actor Manjit Minhas, and Canadian actress Sara Canning are just a few of the notable alumni of the University of Alberta.

The Gustafsson & Skrondal Visiting Scholarship is administered by the University of Oslo’s Centre for Educational Measurement (CEMO). As part of the visiting scholar program, CEMO and the University of Oslo host a number of young researchers from Norway and elsewhere each year.

 

Eligibility for Scholarship.

  • In addition, you have to satisfy all of the following requirements in order to be eligible for this scholarship:
  • You must either be a citizen of Canada, a permanent resident of Canada, or a protected person under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act of Canada in order to be eligible (students in Canada on visas are not eligible). 
  • Be a resident of Alberta, and in order to be considered a resident of Alberta, one must fulfill all of the following conditions:
  • The applicant must have maintained permanent residence in Alberta for at least 12 months prior to beginning a programme of study; the applicant is not eligible to receive a scholarship with respect to any grade unless the applicant or the applicant’s parent(s) or legal guardian were a resident in Alberta throughout the entire academic year; the applicant must have maintained permanent residence in Canada for at least 12 consecutive months immediately prior to the applicant beginning a programme of study; the applicant must have maintained permanent residence in Alberta for at least 12 months prior to beginning  
  • high school graduation on or after September 30, 1980, at the very latest.
  • Be enrolled in a designated post-secondary institution or an apprenticeship programme that is at least one semester long and requires you to take a full course load.
  • Only one time per person is allowed to receive the Alexander Rutherford scholarship.

The University of Alberta 2023 Alexander Rutherford Scholarship for Undergraduate Students is open to all International Students

 

If a student enrolls in one of the degree programs offered by SOAS University of London, they may be eligible to receive a fee waiver award in the amount of £5,000. This award is available to students who are interested in receiving a degree from SOAS University of London.

 

Application Procedure

  • Students who have earned their official high school transcript marks are encouraged to submit an application to the University of Alberta for one of the university’s undergraduate programs.
  • There isn’t one set standard for what should be on a high school transcript for grades. Visit the official website of Alberta Student Aid for further information as well as to submit an application.  After you have submitted your application, you can check the progress of it on the Alberta Student Aid portal using your login information.
