The Bronx Community College of the City University of New York is a public community college in the Bronx, New York City. It is part of the City University of New York system.

During the 1950s the college become home to civic-minded individuals who would go on to ratify the vocational experience. Since some individuals could not leave home for 4 years at a time, vocational schools opted to create a 2-year graduate degree.

Luckily, the Bronx Community College has become the natural home to the Center for Sustainable Energy. Thanks to the 2000’s era, this was founded as an educational resource for students pursuing careers in alternative renewable energy. Even today after a decade this center has become a hot spot for a focus on climate change and what can be done to save ecosystems that suffer from energy damage.

The college is known to offer a vast amount of workforce community development projects. Along with enticing personal enrichment courses. Even programs such as Continuing & Professional Studies are rapidly available for individuals to take part in. CPS has radicalized the delivery of customized training for local employers within the borough. All to work closely with unions, city, state, and federal agencies, Even now they accept vouchers and other forms of financial aid for individual students who can only pay so much at a time.

From the 1980s the college happens to be known as SUNY. This stands for the “Bronx Educational Opportunity Center.” This EOC looks to allocate and provide any means and base by a “tuition-free” program. This involves both academic and vocational to the residents of the state who fall under the qualifying guidelines. This is wholly funded by the University Center for Academic and Workforce Development part of the State University of New York.

With more than 40 academic programs for any student to choose from, it’s hard to narrow down what field study will be the focus for 2-years.

How to Apply

First off, here is a full overview of what important documents are needed when filling out scholarships. Just to gain a great standing point about where to start looking for the right scholarship.

Applicants will need to fill out completely an application that they are taking a full-time STEM program of the students choice.

Students will need to upload all of their unofficial documents to show their participation in the STEM program the student has chosen as their primary field study.

Everything from transcripts (unofficial), to resumes/CVs, personal statements, and any information that pertains to STEM.

A letter of recommendation may be needed, however, applicants will be contacted if any additional information is indeed needed.

The link provided is the “Common Form” which takes any applicants to the beginning of step 1 of 5 part for officially applying for this scholarship.

Reward – Extra Benefits

Since the total award is around $2,500, this amount can fluctuate. However, students can expect this amount to pay their tuition (this vocational college only costs $4,000 per year, so the $2,500 is considered 50% off of tuition). Also, students may receive word that their entire tuition has been covered as well, it just depends on the individual’s experience and financial situation.

However, if a student already has the tuition aspect covered they can use this amount to go towards equipment fees (such as a new laptop or computer software), or even just have the amount deposited into the individual’s bank account. Now since this is a vocational school, students do not receive a traditional college bank account. Instead, a student should already have their very own independent bank account that these funds can be transferred over to.

Deadline

When an applicant submits their application, they will be notified within 4 weeks of the course they have chosen and if they have been selected as the recipient of this award.

Technically, students can apply at any one time, since the application form is the link posted to this page… there is no official deadline date.

Students can contact the e-mail provided to learn more or to ask for more information if they feel inclined to know more. Also, the Bronx Community College is currently a remote working place which means students do not need to be on campus to learn. As long as a student has a decent internet connection and a computer they can complete their courses with the community college.

Open Submission Window Time Frame

The open submission time is literally the entire year since there is no official deadline date whatsoever. Students do not need to feel rushed or hurried, but applying towards the beginning of the year will allow students to complete the 2022 year as their first official school year.

Since the Bronx Community College has turned remote for the time being, they do allow international transfer students, just as long as all the guidelines are followed. So international students can apply as long as they have all of the necessary and essential (English tests) information available.

Annual

This is an annual STEM scholarship that is available once a year, however, multiple different STEM scholarships are given out each year. All applicants should check in with the attached e-mail on this page if they have not heard back within 4 weeks of their application submission date.
