Scholarship details
The JoAnn Heffernan Heisen Scholarship is offered to Syracuse undergraduates who want to study abroad. This specific award is offered on the basis of academic merit and financial need, and this is exclusively for students who come from single parent households.
Eligibility and Requirements
- This scholarship is only awarded based on merit and finical reasons.
- This award is only for Syracuse University students that grew up with a single parent.
- Male of females may apply and they can be from any country as long as they attend Syracuse University. Or will be attending this university solely.
How to Apply
An essay will be the main focus of this scholarship and will need to be written and thought out.
If an applicant applies for 4 scholarships under the “Named Scholarships” portion, only one essay is to be submitted for all 4.
The essay question is and should be about stating an individuals academic, personal and career goals. How will they’re study overseas prepare them to reach these specific goals?
Essays should not exceed 500 words.
Reward
The reward for this scholarship varies because it’s possible to apply for 4 separate scholarships that fall under the “Named Scholarships” on Syracuse University’s website.
The rounded out average reward amount has been $910 but can vary between $520 – $2,286.
Deadline and Annual
November 1, 2021 is the deadline date and this is where each applicant will need to have everything submitted. After Nov. 1, 2021 will not be accepted. This is however, an annual scholarship where the next deadline will be November 1, 2022.
April 30, 2021 is the Fall semester deadline.
