EL 2023 American Legion Scholarship Application is now available. These scholarships are open to American Legion baseball players. For those who have earned a scholarship through one of The American Legion’s national programs.

About the Sponsor: American Legion
The American Legion is a war group of the United States. Veterans organization based in Indianapolis, Indiana. It comprises state, United States Territory, and overseas departments, which in turn are made up of local posts. The legislative body of The American Legion is a national convention held annually.
The organization was a leader in the drafting and passage of the Military Readjustment Act of 1944, also known as the “GI Bill.” In addition to organizing commemorative events, members help out at VA hospitals and clinics. He is active in problem-oriented American politics.
His main political activity is lobbying for the interests of veterans and service members, including support for benefits such as pensions and the Veterans Health Administration.
The American Legion was founded in 1919 and has offered scholarships for many years. Students from diverse backgrounds may be eligible to participate in these American Legion Scholarships.
Eligibility for American Legion Scholarships 2023
Scholarship applications are restricted to High School Juniors who are attending the current session of The American Legion Boys State or American Legion Auxiliary Girls State program and are direct descendants, i.e. children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, etc., or legal children adopted from a US military wartime veteran who served on active duty during at least one of the wartime periods officially designated as eligibility dates for membership in the American Legion.
Some of these scholarships require students to demonstrate financial need, so consider applying for the FAFSA as soon as possible. After completing the FAFSA application, if you still need funds to cover the cost of your studies, consider using one of these American Legion Scholarships:
Samsung American Legion Scholarship:
This Samsung American Legion Scholarship is currently ongoing and is open to the children (and grandchildren) of veterans who served in one of the following wars: the Korean War, Persian Gulf War, World War, World War I, Panama, II World War, Lebanon/Grenade and Vietnam War.
Designed to show appreciation for American veterans who received Korean aid in fighting communist forces in the Korean War, the Samsung American Legion Scholarship Program brought together a number of scholarships derived from interest and other principal income.
Also, only candidates in their first year of high school will be considered for this American Legion Scholarship.
Students are selected for this scholarship based on various criteria. For example, applications are reviewed for evidence of extracurricular involvement, financial need, academic achievement, and community service.
Korean War Veterans students preferred. Students must prove that their parents have participated in one of the previous wars.
Samsung Scholarships can be used for undergraduate study and apply to tuition, books, fees and costs, and accommodation. Winners are selected based on their academic record, school involvement, and community service.
- Ten national scholars each receive $10,000 (two from each region)
- Ten National Second Prize winners each receive $5,000 (two from each area)
- The remaining department finalists each receive a guaranteed $1,250

Legacy Scholarship:
This American Legion Scholarship was created to help children whose parents died during the 9/11 attacks. Since the death of parents causes considerable loss and an overall decrease in family income, these American Legion Scholarships are designed to help students pay the cost of earning a college diploma.
To be eligible for these awards, students must be in high school and have been accepted to an accredited college or university.
In addition, the applicant must have a parent who is a veteran who served in the military after 9/11 or a parent who died after 9/11. Additional information is available on this stock exchange, as well as application instructions here.
National High School Speech Contest:
This American Legion Scholarship is open to high school students. The value of the scholarship ranges from $1,500 to $18,000. The third-place winner receives a $14,000 scholarship, the second-place winner receives a $16,000 scholarship, and the first prize is worth $18,000. Additionally, several finalists receive $1,500 scholarships.
Each state has at least one elected representative to participate in this contest. High school students are assigned a subject (a recent subject was the Constitution). They then have little time to prepare their speech. Students compete for the most convincing argument.
Legion Baseball Scholarship
The American Legion Baseball Scholarship is for those students who have graduated from high school. The program aims to offer the opportunity to pay for university and school expenses through scholarships.
American Legion Baseball is one of the most successful amateur athletic programs in the nation, educating youth on the importance of sportsmanship, citizenship, and fitness.
Each department winner will receive a scholarship from The American Legion of $500 or more. The scholarship can be used to attend a school of the student’s choice, as long as it is state accredited and above the high school level.
American Legion Scholarships 2023 Deadline
The American Legion Scholarship application deadline is April 9.
Apply online at www.legion.org/scholarships/legacy. The Legacy Scholarship is based on need. Each scholar’s award amount will be based on their financial need after all federal and state aid is exhausted.
