The School of Geography at the University of Melbourne offers full-time PhD scholarships to work on a scheme that is discovering how new digital technologies are changing, how societies work and interchange in cities. This scholarship is open to both domestic and international applicants.
These scholarships are a part of an Australian Research Council, funded project that is inspecting how new digital on-demand ways of affecting people, goods, and services in their cities. This is often referred to as the ‘gig economy’ this are dramatically changing the power dealings between consumption and productions, creating a wide-range and uneven social, political and economic possibilities and opportunities and yet to be systematically understood and responded to.

The scholarship is to pursue the Ph.D. program in the field of Human Geography. Awarding two prospective students and can be taken in Australia.
The students will receive a stipend of 21,500$ US Dollar yearly for 3 years, with a possible 6-month extension. Students will also receive funding support from the School during their application for fieldwork costs and to attend some conferences.
