About the Scholarship:
Milton Fisher was born and raised in New York City before migrating to Connecticut in 1960 and passing away in 2001. He was an attorney and an investment banker who also taught “Applied Creativity,” a unique course for adults, for over 25 years.
Rather than focusing on creativity as it is commonly understood in the arts, the popular class aimed to help people become more creative in all aspects of their lives, including developing creative problem-solving skills and innovative approaches to challenges they faced individually or in their communities.
Milton Fisher practiced law in New York after graduating from Brooklyn College in 1938 and Fordham Law School in 1942. He also formed A.D. Gilhart, an investment banking firm. For decades, he taught an enormously popular Adult Education program in Westport, Connecticut called “Applied Creativity.” His hobby was matchmaking, and he was known for introducing scores of couples to each other. He was Chairman of the Bedford District Health Center, President of the Men’s Club of Union Temple, and other civic positions in Brooklyn, New York, until moving to Connecticut in 1960.
