Students who are going through a difficult financial time as a direct result of completing their final clinical placement for their undergraduate Bachelor of Midwifery degree are eligible to apply for financial assistance through the Leahurst Nurses’ Foundation Scholarship. This scholarship was established to help these students. All students who will be completing their final placement in 2022 are eligible to apply for the award.

The scholarship is worth two thousand dollars and will be given out within a week of the beginning of the final clinical placement.
Eligibility for Scholarship.
- Both academic achievement and financial need will be considered when selecting recipients for the scholarship.
- A panel that will include representatives from the College of Nursing and Health Sciences will make the final decision of which applicant or candidates will be chosen.
- The scholarship is granted solely at the determination of the committee that will review applications. In the event that no one meets the requirements for the scholarship during a given year, there is no requirement that the scholarship be awarded.
- Candidates for the scholarship are required to:
- be currently enrolled or in the process of enrolling in their final clinical placement for their undergraduate Bachelor of Midwifery degree at Flinders; and
- be able to establish that undertaking the placement will put them in a difficult financial position, either currently or in the future; and
- possess a grade point average of 4.5 or higher; and
- not currently be a recipient of another scholarship of a comparable nature for the same placement.
- All students who will be completing their final placement in 2022 are eligible to apply for the award. Applicants are allowed to submit their applications even if the specifics of their final placement have not yet been verified (the placements for certain students won’t be verified until after the deadline for the award).
- Both academic achievement and financial need will be considered when selecting recipients for the scholarship.
