Undergraduate Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Bachelor of Nursing students completing their Professional Experience Placement (PEP) at an approved clinical education facility in a rural or remote setting can apply for the Rural and Remote Nursing Placement Scholarship.

Scholarship Offer: 

The scholarship will provide a contribution toward a living allowance and travel expenses, and it will be awarded to one student each year up to a total value of $2,000, subject to the availability of funds..

 

Eligibility for Scholarship.

Applicants for the scholarship must meet the following requirements:

  • be descended from Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people; and,
  • be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Australian citizen or permanent resident;
  • acceptance as a member of the Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander community;
  • enrolling or intending to enroll in a PEP topic in the second or third year of their undergraduate studies
  • Flinders University offers a Bachelor of Nursing degree; and
  • to be completing the placement in a rural setting, as defined by the Australian government
  • Geographical Remoteness Areas 2-5 (excluding Mount Barker) under the Statistical Geography Standard; and
  • The College of Nursing and Health Sciences has granted approval for the establishment of a clinical education facility.
  • The date, time, and location of the St Theodore’s Anglican Church Nursing Scholarship interview will be announced soon.
  • Following graduation from college, the Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic achievement and the applicant’s commitment to working in a rural or remote area after completing their studies.
  • Selecting the candidate(s) will be done by a panel comprised of representatives from the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, as well as representatives from the Office of Indigenous Strategy and Engagement.
