About the Scholarship Provider:

In 1869, the Otago Provincial Council established the University of Otago through an ordinance. Initially, the institution was given 100,000 acres of land and allowed to award degrees in medicine, the arts, music, and law. When the university opened its doors for the first time in July 1871, there were only three faculty members teaching out of what had been the John Wickliffe House on Princess Street. Otago Business School, the Department of Health Sciences, the Department of Humanities, and the Department of Sciences make up the present departments of the institution. There are four schools represented here. The organization maintains four locations in New Zealand. The university’s principal campus is in Dunedin, where you’ll find the central administration, the Otago Business School, and the science, humanities, and health sciences departments. You may find both the Christchurch School of Medicine and the Christchurch School of Health Sciences on the same site in Christchurch. The campus serves as the hub for all facets of education, from undergraduate to postgraduate to even online programs. In addition to the Wellington School of Medicine and Health Sciences, there is also the Wellington City Office, which handles recruitment, summer programs, alumnae relations, professional development opportunities, and scientific inquiry.

The Auckland campus handles all child-related issues, as well as course descriptions, distance learning options, and liaison duties. Courses for aspiring teachers are available in a variety of formats at Southland’s Invercargill campus. Graduate, doctoral, and postgraduate study is available at the University of Otago in a vast array of disciplines, including but not limited to the following: business, economics, entrepreneurship, management, marketing, medicine, pharmacy, law, the arts, the social sciences, the natural sciences, zoology, botany, and computer science.

About 18,000 students and 4,000 instructors and staff call this university home. The institution places great emphasis on providing its undergraduates with a worldwide consciousness and the skills essential to find job in other countries, thanks to its large population of international students and its strong relationships to a number of organizations active on the global arena. Sonia, the university’s placement program helps students like you gain valuable work experience and refine your talents so that you can get hired by top firms after graduation. More than 100,000 graduates from 142 different countries form an established network for the university.

Some very influential people in our society are graduates of this university. One of the creators of the e-learning platform GoSkills is Bhavneet Chahal. Hayden Paddon, who drives for the Hyundai team in the World Rally Championship, has Katie Lane as his media manager. Dr. Maria Pozza is the first of her kind in New Zealand; she practices space law exclusively. Mark Orton has presented documentaries like High Country Rescue on the Discovery Channel, Natural History New Zealand, TVNZ, and the National Geographic Channel. He is now working on several projects for the Al Jazeera channel. The university’s alumni network includes many more successful persons.

When it comes to educational institutions in New Zealand, the University of Otago is the granddaddy of them all. Established in 1871 on a 100,000-acre plot of land with just three professors, the university received more funding in 1872 that allowed it to expand its curriculum and add new courses. In 1873 and 1875, respectively, the first classes in law and medicine were held, and successive years saw the introduction of additional classes. In 1907, the first dental school opened, and in 1911, the first “Home Science School” welcomed its first students. Since then, the curriculum at this school has grown substantially as additional courses have been added.

This university is becoming a popular alternative for students seeking bachelor’s and master’s degrees in a wide variety of disciplines. Over 20,000 students signed up for the classes in 2016, and every year since then, thousands more have applied to attend. It is governed by the Otago Provincial Council, whose current form emerged after the university had already been founded. This academic institution has received the highest possible ratings in both classroom performance and research productivity: five stars and a plus. The academic accomplishments of its pupils have also earned it a reputation as one of the best in New Zealand. As the results of the National Teaching Examination show, it also has an unmatched history of achievement in the classroom.
