About the Scholarship Provider:

Located in Adelaide, the state capital of South Australia, is a public research university known simply as The Institution of Adelaide. Walter Watson Hughes, an industrialist and copper miner, founded it in 1874. Adelaide Institution, the country’s third-oldest university, issued its first Bachelor of Arts degree and had its first official lecture in Latin in 1876. Dr. Augustus Short, a graduate of Oxford University and a lecturer at Christ Church College, was the university’s first vice-chancellor. Short put in a lot of time and effort to ensure that the University of Adelaide was as cutting-edge as possible. He accomplished this by introducing new subjects into the curriculum, such as modern science, literature, art, and philosophy, to set it apart from the conventional Classics curriculum then in use at Oxford. The school he had envisioned becoming the first in all of Australia to offer degrees in the sciences in 1882.

To “find new knowledge,” “pursue innovation,” and “train tomorrow’s educated leaders who are autonomous, creative thinkers with an international perspective” are some of the goals of the school as it stands today. It is one of Australia’s top research universities, and it is affiliated with the exclusive Group of Eight consortium. Its five schools award degrees in a wide range of academic disciplines. There is the faculty of arts, the faculty of engineering, the faculty of computer and mathematical sciences, the faculty of health sciences, and the faculty of science. Over 25,000 students, about 30% of whom are from over 100 different countries, and 3,600 staff and employees call Adelaide, Australia, home.

The university has four locations throughout the state of South Australia, and through its affiliation with the Ngee Ann-Adelaide Education Centre in Singapore, its degree programs are also available in that country. Study abroad programs can also be found in other nations, such as Hong Kong, France, the Netherlands, and many more. The university boasts an impressive list of notable alums, including the first female Prime Minister of Australia, Julia Gillard, and Robin Warren, who discovered the connection between the bacterium Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) and peptic ulcers. Additionally, the university has produced 110 Rhodes Scholars and five Nobel laureates. The Adelaide squad is inspired by the knowledge that they are on the verge of making history.

Our employees enjoy working in a diverse and inclusive environment with access to continuous training and the chance to team up with industry leaders. Our student body represents more than a hundred different countries. Most of our professors either were not born in the United States or are dual citizens. If one were to believe the QS Graduate Employability Rankings for 2020, then Australia would have won the 2018 Award for Excellence in Research (the most recent assessment date) * Economist Intelligence Unit, 2021. Health and Medical Sciences, Arts, Math, and Professions are the five faculties that make up the university’s academic curriculum.

The institution’s scientific endeavors are managed by the Faculty of Sciences. Each of these faculties is comprised of several departments, allowing students to specialize their education in a wide variety of ways. The list features a wide variety of academic departments, including but not limited to the Schools of Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Architecture, Music, and Physical Sciences. The university provides education at all levels, from the undergraduate to the PhD. Not only that, but it also helps set up exchange programs across schools so that students may learn more about other alternative educational paths.
