About the Scholarship Provider:

The Institution of Kent, located in Kent, England, is a renowned public research university that was once known as the Institution of Kent at Canterbury. Founded in 1965, the University of Beloff-Schuman Plate Glass is commonly referred to as a university named after Beloff’s plate glass. Advocates for the institution that would become the University of Kent petitioned the University Grants Committee for money to build a university in the city of Canterbury in 1960. Kent State University is the proposed name for this new establishment. An Interim Committee was established and the school was contacted once the design was approved in 1962. In 1965, the institute received a Royal Charter from the British government. There were only 500 students registered and 150 academic and staff members working when courses started earlier this year. The first chancellor of the university will be Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent. This scheduled meeting has a specific time and location.

In addition to the six existing colleges, there are now also three academic centers and eighteen academic schools that make up the current organizational structure. The university has received the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education on two separate occasions within the last eleven years. There are three locations of the university in Kent County. Six separate schools including the Gulbenkian Arts Centre, Templeman Library, and Mandela Building may all be found on the Canterbury Campus in Parkland. Students at this 300-acre campus may easily access public transportation that can take them into New York City or London in a matter of minutes. Its services to students, both in and out of the classroom, are without equal. When Tonbridge’s School of Continuing Education opened to its first cohort of students in 1982, the town was filled with excitement. As of right now, it counts among its partners the Kent Innovation & Enterprise Center and the Kent Business School at Kent State University.

Commuters between Medway and Chatham and Rochester may find the two cities to be within easy driving distance. In the past, that location served as a naval base. There is a fence between the Pembroke and Chatham areas of the Naval Dockyard. The Drill Hall Library, the Journalism Center, the School of Sport and Exercise Sciences, the Student Hub, and the Medway Campuses of the Schools of Social Policy, Sociology and Social Research, and Computing can all be found in Pembroke. Dockyard is home to Kent Business School’s Medway campus and the Centre for Music and Audio Technology. A number of European capitals including Athens, Paris, Brussels, and Rome have become home to the organization’s branches. The school offers graduate and undergraduate degrees in a wide variety of disciplines, including but not limited to economics, law, journalism, medicine, anthropology, architecture, environmental studies, the arts, the media, English, philosophy, the social sciences, history, music, science, pharmacy, finance, sports medicine, and the law.

About 20,100 undergraduates and 2,000 graduate and postdoctoral researchers make up the university’s total student body. Approximately 16% of the student body consists of those from outside the country. One faculty member for every twelve students is the average at this institution. The university’s Employability Points program, which is well regarded on a national scale, attracted almost 6,700 students and 132 different companies during the 2015-2016 school year. The University of Kent has established relationships with 388 different foreign organizations. There are notable personalities among the 160,000 graduates from 180 different countries. Gavin William James Esler is a well-known figure due to his many contributions to journalism, fiction, and television hosting.

Kazuo Ishiguro has written novels, short tales, and screenplays. British actor Tom Wilkinson’s film credits include “Michael Clayton” and “In the Bedroom.” Alan Davies is a British actor, comedian, and author who is best known for his role as Jonathan Creek in the BBC mystery series. Cloud Atlas and number9dream, two novels by David Mitchell, were both shortlisted for the Booker Prize. The veteran actor Paul Telfer is most recognized for his role as Xander Kiriakis on the NBC soap opera Days of Our Lives. This university boasts an impressive list of notable alums.
