The Black Creator Accelerator will give a ten thousand dollar a month stipend to twenty-five aspiring Black creators so that they can pursue creative endeavors and be linked with possibilities to start professions that are sustainable and full-fledged. The purpose of this is to give them a head start in their careers by giving them access to industry knowledge, resources, mentorship, and chances. Those who are successful in getting their applications selected will be given the opportunity to participate in educational sessions and receive hands-on training from industry professionals who work on a number of products at Snapchat, including Discover, Stories, Spotlight, and Maps. Creators will learn how to leverage these many products to their advantage in order to produce excellent content, bring more attention to their profiles, develop their audiences, and accomplish other goals.

About the Scholarship:

The technological and social media company known as Snap Inc. has its headquarters in the city of Los Angeles. Two Stanford University students launched the messaging app Snapchat in 2011. Both of them were enrolled at Stanford at the time. In addition, it is the parent company of the companies Zenly and Bitmoji, which were both acquired in separate transactions. The principal offering of the company is a camera program known as Snapchat. This app enables users to connect with one another through the sharing of short videos and still images known as snaps. Users of the widely used software Zenly, which was developed in France and has its headquarters in that country, have the ability to communicate with one another regarding their respective locations.

The Snapchat team was responsible for developing their own version of the feature known as Snap Map for the app. It works in the same way as the previous capability, allowing users to observe the whereabouts of their friends on a map within the context of public Snaps; however, this is only possible if the friend has decided to make their location public. Users are now able to deploy their custom-made avatars anyplace else on the web, such as in e-mails, messages, and other forms of online communication, in addition to being able to use Bitmoji within the Snapchat app itself. This feature was previously only available within the Snapchat app. Additionally, Snap has a large presence in the field of advertising, where it develops Sponsored Creative Tools such as Sponsored Lenses and Sponsored Geofilters. Sponsored Lenses and Sponsored Geofilters are two examples of these tools. One of the features that is unique to Snap and has been widely duplicated by the company’s competitors, the most notable of which is Instagram, is the daily photo and video collections that are known as Stories.

The fact that photo and video messages made through Snapchat disappear once they have been viewed makes it the social network that maybe best exemplifies the generational divide that exists between millennials and generation Xers, who came before them. Millennials are members of this generation. The fact that there are currently more than 187 million users who use Snapchat on a daily basis can be linked to the fact that the app places a strong emphasis on entertainment features such as stickers, sketching tools, and augmented-reality filters.

The company initially debuted Our Stories in 2014, and at the time, it was the first time that it permitted users who were present at the same event or venue to submit Snaps to a shared feed. This was the first time that Our Stories was made available to users. These have proven themselves to be the appropriate medium for delivering behind-the-scenes content from a wide variety of events, including concerts and festivals, entertainment and breaking news events, and other types of events as well.

When Snapchat Discover was released at the beginning of 2015, it ushered in a new form of “first page” for online sites that cover news and entertainment. Snapchat Discover is an example of this. Short-form, video-based content created by firms such as ESPN, BuzzFeed, and Cosmopolitan can be viewed by users of the site when they visit the portal. Discover has evolved into a platform that traditional media organizations may utilize to connect with a younger audience in a completely novel way because to the channel’s accessibility. Shows, which are original programs that are similar to television and are made by some of the most important television networks and entertainment studios, are now included as well. Shows are available on this platform.

Lens Studio is a platform that was introduced by the company in December of 2017, and it gives users the ability to post and share augmented reality experiences that have either been created by the company itself or by the community of Snapchat users. By the end of 2018, more than 300,000 Lenses had been developed through the usage of Lens Studio, and a combined total of more than 35 billion times were seen by Snapchat users using these Lenses. Every single day, more than seventy million individuals use augmented reality (AR) on Snapchat for an average of three minutes each user. As a result, Snapchat is the platform that possesses the largest and most engaged global audience for these novel types of experiences. An interactive and “multiplayer” augmented reality (AR) experience was released by Snap in April of 2018, alongside an updated version of their Spectacles and Snappables products.
