Among other things, the institution has a large campus and is well-known throughout the world for delivering excellent vocational and professional education, as well as applied research and other services. In 1887, Francis Ormond set the groundwork for the establishment of the university. At its inception, it served as a night school where students may take courses in technology, art, and science, among other subjects. In 1992, the university was granted the status of public university for the first time. Approximately 87,000 students are enrolled at RMIT University each year. This includes 34,347 international, onshore and offshore students. In addition, the university earns $54.1 million in revenue from its research. Among art and design subjects, the university is ranked 11th in the world, according to Times Higher Education. The Bundoora Campus and the Brunswick Campus are the other two campuses of the institution located in Australia. In addition, it has two regional locations and two campuses in Vietnam, as well as a center in the country of Spain. After a few years, the campus has grown to include 87 structures.
